Haven't seen one of those....Are they as aggresive as the Purple Tang??

Usually not, but each fish is different.

btw Nice specimen!

He looks hug because he is HUGE! I wanted to get one at least 2" bigger than my PBT and the Black certainly is. Even though the PBT looks about half the Blacks size he gave hiom hell for about 15 minutes and then the Black gave him a nice slap with that big white blade and that was the end of that. I was told it was going to be 5 1/2 to 6" and he pushing 7 to 8". That nose and the extreme lateral compression make him look even bigger. I'm going to have to put some rock in the sump and do some rearranging. Man is it beautiful though. I have never seen one this big. Hopefully someone is supposed to be adopting my Volitan this weekend, if not I may have to bring him the LFS. I got the Black Tang from a friend who is a diver/collector in Hawaii. He gets some great stuff. I'll try and take some more pics later tonight. Regards, Tim

Awesome fish man. Dont take this the wrong way or anything, is the white on the fish from stress and will it go completely black again? Healthy looking fish for sure...

I don't think its stressed. They are quite of few black tangs that are not all black and do have the whitish look to them.

Yea I figured that much, I have seen a few yellows with white as well. Not like a tricolour or anything, just like this tang.

I have never really seen a black tang but thats a freaking beauty its without a doubt HUGE!!! and also does it turn white because its stresses or what?

He looks like those older animals in like herds who have a faded look to their skin. He is probably as old as he is beautiful nice "catch" !

Here is my Black Tang, I have had him for about 3 years or so. He was about 5 inches when I got him and is at least 6.5 to 7 inches now. Next to him is the big boy Vlamingi and Powder Blue. Vlamingi is about 13 inches so that should show you size of the my Black Tang.

That white/blueish hue is stress related and is a sign if a true Zebrasoma Rostratum Tang. Mine developes it when he is chasing the Scopas Tang, then he goes right back to Jet Black!

Here are some new Pics of the new guy and one of my Christmas Island Emperor just starting to change. The tang no longer is pale and is jet black. The Tang dwarfs the other guys in the tank. It's tough to get a good pic of the Black because i have a black back round. Regards, Tim
