Got my FIRST BTA ever

So I got my first BTA tonight from Big Al's. He's pretty little, maybe a littler bigger than the size of a quarter.

I drip acclimated him for 2 hrs at approx. 1-2 drips/second.

One question though, it's night time now so the moonlights are on and the tentacls are completely deflated except for one. Is this normal?

Awesome thanks, I can't wait till it's fully acclimated then I'll get some pics up.

Also, I noticed there's little red/pink-ish dots at the end of the bubble tips. I know it's not a pink tip anemone because well .. it has bubble tips.

Condylactus can sometimes (rarely) have bubble tips, but there are alot of bubble anemones that have pinkish/purplish tips so probably nothing to worry about.

well it's really small, and the rest of it is also green-ish.

Well it's the second day and my anemone moved to the bottom of the tank, under the rocks and is sort of doing a face plant in the sand. Is this normal?

I haven't fed it yet but I will try to asap not sure how I'm gonna get down there though.

It should not be face down. If you can get to it I'd try to turn it right side up. If not, maybe it will right itself. Don't even try to feed it till it is completely acclimated and fully inflated. Can you post a photo?

As of right now I don't think I can a decent enough photo because it's at the back bottom right corner end of my tank and with the live rock in the way, all I can see is the foot unless I get up on a chair and look over the back.

It's a rectangular tank but it's in a corner so side-side visibility is not so good.

But when I climbed over I could see the tentacles extended and slightly bubbled than before.

The LFS had it under T5HOs and I have 130w PC over a 20g. Could that have anything to do with the behavior?

Here are the best pics I could get. Hopefully it'll move closer to he top so I can get better pics.

still healhty?

still healhty?

Should I try feeding it some mysis now? It hasn't moved there in about 12hrs and I don't know how long it's been since it was fed at the LFS.

Hehe ok I'll wait a bit more. I guess I'm just paranoid as all other first time anemone owners. Don't want anything to go wrong.

Well, it's been 5 days and the anemone is still in the lower back right corner of the tank attached to a rock, hasn't moved an inch. I won't be home till Tomorrow night but I was just wondering if I should be worried or is this normal?

I'll test my water tomorrow night and post parameters.

Wow, it is really little. You could try to feed, it wouldn't hurt and you want that guy to grow. Someone said to wait till it is inflated but I think it is, just that small. I would not try to move it, it will come out when it is ready. It is not uncommon for a new anemone to do this. Just give it time. Could I ask what you were charged for that teeny tiny bta? It is so small and I must say it"s cute as a button. If you have clowns, I hope they don't try to host it.
Do you have a macro or a closeup setting on your camera? Mine is a picture of a flower. If not try moving further away amybe that will help to get it into focus.

I paid $50 (CAD) for it at Big Al's. "Cute as a button," lol that's exactly why I got it. I don't think my clowns have even noticed it yet. They're usually near the front of the tank and semi-hosting my torch coral. The tentacles are inflated it's just since I have PC's I wasn't sure if it's getting enough light but seeing as how it's open and inflated I guess it's happy.

What would be the best food at this time? Mysis? Mixed frozen foods? I know it's too small to consume sliversides.

Oh and as for the camera, it does have a macro feature on it but it's no high class camera. Just a simple Fujifilm 9mp dig. camera. I was sort of in a rush when I took these pictures. I'll try to get some up tomorrow.

Ouch! I asked about price because I sold a tiny rbta for $25, a few months ago but it was bigger than yours. I think you were over charged considerably.
I'd try a couple mysis, you can try almost any marine based frozen food you have.
I am looking forward to seeing more photos. : )

Yeah I noticed alot of things here are more expensive. Even equipment. Well $25 converts to roughly $32CAD and keeping in mind that the BTA I got came from Florida, it ends being pretty costly. The RBTAs here are $60 at their cheapest no matter what size you get.

Hopefully the anemone will move in clear view so I can get some pics. My tank is rectangular and it's in a corner, so my side-side view is pretty restricted as well but I'll do my best.

That nem is really tiny! I think my local BA sells GBTAs at a decent size (3 - 4") for about $35 - 40.

I know it might be a bit more of a drive for you, but check out Alternative aquariums in Burlington - much better store.

Here are a couple more pics, not the best I know but I'll get more later tonight, I'm in sort of a rush right now. It's hard to get good pics when I sort of have to climb over the tank.

Looks ok, a little on the pale side perhaps, but that should improve once it's properly acclimated and used to the lighting. You might consider upgrading the PC fixture with some T5HOs.
