got my new skimmer, extreme octopus

I believe they make the "other" skimmmers as well. Coral Vue is the US distributor for the Reef Octopus brand, and the have a license on the brand. The Marine Solutions website (that was selling the skimmers) was selling them as well, in some sort of violation of branding laws or some such.

So they have branded them SWC. They did this to avoid legal issues. But I am almost certain it is the same skimmer, just a different label.

Customer service seems to be better with the Reef Octopus skimmers though, from what I have read.

Ones from SWC come with sicce pumps, ones from Coralvue come with the standard Octopus pumps.

not sure the difference really but just fired mine up after going through pain in butt to start two u tube overflow and sucking up a bunch of saltwater. Holy crap this thing produces some freakin foam, i'm gonna have to post a video on this.

are you running its direct feed from a u-tube overflow?

i have 2 600 gph over flows u-tube style so i don't have to worry about floods and tested it so i know it restarts ok. my 125 has 1200 gph flow through sump and my 75 gallon has 600 gph flow through its sump. Both water drains into skimmer section of sump than flow to 2nd area which is refugium and than into 3rd where mag pump return is. Thats how i did both, hose go to a bubble tower so no micro bubbles get back to display tank.

im interested to see your video, my dnw-200 might need to be replaced if it doesnt start working right. it seems all the rave reviews were for the nw series i cant find anything on the dnw's. the air intake in the venturi is the problem, it makes a 90 degree turn and gets clogged with salt creep. I would drill it out and mod it like every one does in the octopus thread but they dont sell replacement parts for the dnw's.
