Got my new skimmer

Just got my new Octopus Dnw-200. Turns out it's a new model. It's got a cone-shape and has a bubble plate. Also a new pinwheel. I'll try and hook it up Saturday

It's damn near a hurricone, minus pump!

Oh Martin, what will you re-sell next, LOL!

Nice skimmer though, keep us informed on how it does.

This is a recirc rendition of the discontinued TS/PS line (same bubble plate, same straight shot pump orientation and pump) with a hurricone top. all the OTP pumps have been coming with the new pinwheel for a while now.

small version of my discontinued TS-120 (small version, baseplate cut). looks like they took some of this, some of the regular NW series, the DNW series and the hurricone series and made a frankecone!

Is that some new sort of skimmer sitting next to it? I've never heard of a BL lime skimmer. Looks fancy.

Yeah! Throw a pump on it! Lets see what the BL can do!

Five hrs and you don't have any foam in the cup yet? After two hrs run time on my DNW 200 I already had nice thick foam going into the cup. I read so many threads where people talk about such long break in periods on new skimmers.

Did you clean the entire skimmer before you started it up?

Yes we have foam. I did clean it with water and vinegar, not vary well but good enough. I had a LFS get it for me, Reef depot, they do have a web site.

I just ordered one of these earlier today, except I got the 150g model. These are the new 2009 model Reef Octopus Needle Wheel skimmers. Can't wait to get mine!

I agree on raising the water. The way it is now the neck is going to get really dirty and not perform the way it should or could.

I just ordered the 150 model which should be here in a couple of days. Question, where do you guys suggest the top of the bubble line should be on the inside of the skimmer cone? Instructions indicate it should sit in 8-10 inches of water, but they do not indicate how high you should have the water line inside the skimmer cone.

Since it is a recirc, I would raise the water level by increasing the feed GPH.
