got new starfish

I just got this the other day $25 delivered how is that for a good deal. it is going in a 54g reef tank with a mix of goodies in it.

It resembles a Nardoa or Galathea Sea Star I think some one could jump in on what it is

I believe it's a specimen of Asterias forbesi...which has molluscs on its menu.

Well now that everybody has had there laugh, the starfish I bought it on Ebay because my wife thinks it cools cool, have no idea what it is. the tank is 2 months old filled with a mix of figi and florida live rock. the snails are from Ebay where I got 400 of then for $25 so if he eats a few so what . he seems to be staying on the glass for the most part and sometimes venturing out on the rock and sand.

No I put around 250 in though.that was my only real tank cleaners. they seem to clean up nice escically the detris and some algea

It would be a fortunate thing if it eats snails. Atleast you could keep it fed. Most starfish slowly die from starvation in aquaria.

What kind of starfish it that? I've never seen one like that. I have a sandsifter and it doesn't look anything like that one.:eek2:

Are those Ilynassarius Snails? If so they are temperate creatures and will die shortly in most of our tropical tanks. They will also starve because 250 is too much for a 54 gallon tank, much less 400.

I would say it has about a 10% of living.

well it is still kicking it is traveling all over the tank

not all nassarius snails are temperate creatures are they. i thought that some lived in tropical waters and buried themselfs in the sand and some come from coller wathers and buried themselfs in mud? anyone clear that up?
