You continue to harass me?
Is it because I am Hungarian?
Anyway.. to build on that equation
The reason I want to change salt is to try to bring my chemicals into ballance with less additives.
So I/O ~ RC = better water quality
BUT, and it is a big but.
I spent the week adding ALK, MG and Cal to the system per the reef calculator.
I have seen little if any change in the readings so.
Using a salifert CA test (4 mos old)
A brand new Seachem MG test kit
A brand new Seachem KH test kit
on 12-28-2007
KH = 9
PH = 8.02
Sal - 1.024
Mag = 1075 (1200)
Cal = 375
Now, after dripping 80% of the recommended doses of Epson Salt, Seachem Reef Builder, headcheese, and Seachem Reef Calcium I have the following:
on 01-05-2008
KH = 7.5
PH = 7.83
Sal = 1.025
Mag. = 1225 (1350)
Cal = 375
This brings me to question the test kits. I ran the test against the baseline cal solution for Magnesium and found that it is off by about 125 at 1100 so I adjusted the above (+125)
Not to hijack my own thread but the Alk and CAlcium have me puzzled. I have (2) Alk test kits and both test the same. I think I need to get to a lfs and have them verify.
The reason for the changes is that my LPS seem to have issues converting calcuim. The Sun polyps have a bit of skin detatching from the skeleton and the torch has the same at night.
ANy thoughts from the water guru's?
