So I got a AGA 92gallon corner bowfront today for a smoking deal it's reef ready. black trim, black silicone, megaflow drilled for 1" and 3/4"bulkheads... Its hiding behind my quad in my garage right now I still haven't tried to sneak it in without my girflriend killing me first=) I'm still trying to find a way to justify setting it up to her...She wants a sea horse tank so maybe SPS and Sea Horses I dunno.. I really don't want a sea horse tank rgiht now.. My idea is it's going to be a full blown reef I'll take down my 20g zoa tank and putting all the zoa in there and the huge frogspawn and buble tip anenomes that are taking up prime SPS realestate in my 180=) More to come..Eventually I'll take some pics kinda boring right now though it's just a tank no stand no canopy..I'm already planning on the stand for it and debating on building my own custom acrylic tank for a sump or just using a 20or30g..

Im deabating on a false canopy front to somewhat conceal the hangning pendant Im planning on buying for it or just letting it be completely open and the pendant hang out in all its glory=) LOL

Probably.. I'm hoping I can convince her how much nicer it's going to look with the two 20g tanks sitting on top of each oher on that wire rack system now=)...Im going to try and not remind her of the additional electricity it will use though with another MH running in the house..

On a side note the tank has never even had water in it=) I'm hoping to start on the stand monday if I don't have to work.. Im going to try and get some of my woodworking tools out of storage tommorow..

Oh and I'm going to have substrate in this tank.. Im kinda getting bored with the borebottom look in my 180 lately.

I can get a 56g cornerbowfront also for like $60 I'm debating getting it to use for a sump...=) It's like 24"tall though and my stand would have to be pretty tall would be the bad part though..

Dang - where are you finding all these great deals? :P

Congrat on ANOTHER tank. Hope you get to set it up before your GF kills you. ;)

Rob-well my buddy already bought it for that price so Im sure he'd sell it for the same to me..hed probably want to make $20 on it to sell it to anyone else though..
Minh-
My neighbor is always finding crazy deals on tanks and gives me first dibs on everything he comes across most of it i wouldn;'t touch but some of it is really nice.. he has a sweet 225g dual overflow Oceanic right now he wants to sell.. I think he wants $400 for it though..

Ok so somehow I talked my girlfriend into the new tank this morning=) So I'm going to start working on the stand tommorow=)Im going to go through my extra plumbing stuff today to see if I have the bulkheads for it already Im pretty sure I do..

Sea horses and SPS don't mix :(

I've seen then in tanks together before? I've heard your dont want to have LPS because they can sting the sea horses..But it doesn't mater i didn't even try to sell her on sea horses for it.. I just told her the 20g zoa tank is turning into a 92g and the 20g can be the sump=)I had to sweet talk her but now I can get to work though on building it=)it will look much nicer than how I have it now that was my main selling point..

76 degrees is about all the heat that ponies can tolerate, they need low flow, and they try to hitch on SPS which irritates the heck out of the coral. Sea horses go well with softies, but nothing that stings. Macroalgae, kenya trees, etc....

My main problem with the gf is our skyrocketing electric bill :(

Oh that makes total sense I ddin't realize they did all that..too much work for me..Shhhhh don;'t remind her of the extra electricity=) I'm going to attibute it to the weather being hotter=)...
Ginger---LOL

Well I finally went through and constructed a list of what i still need to get or figure out what I wanna use for the new tank
list
1. 250w electronic ballast and 20k bulb--or just get a 20k 400wbulb and use my 400w ballast
2. 4cooling fans(gonna get that combo pack I got for my 180 for like $12 or something)
3. mag 7 for a return or something similar in size..running a mag9.5 on my 180 and it's a bit overkill..
4.protein skimmer--probably going skimmerless for awhile till I get the cash to upgrade the skimmer on my 180 then I'll throw that Euroreef on the 92g.
5. two k4's
6. actinics.. I think I have a spare 2x65w ballast adn bulbs in storage(going to build a lightweight hanging canopy to house them and my mini lumibright reflector I think it is..)
7.ATO.. just going to get a dual float switch setup like I run on my 180 and I'll use either a 10g tank or a 15g tall for a reservior I should be able to fit either in the stand..
8. Im trying to incorporate a fuge into the system as well even if it's just as small as one of my spare eclipse6tanks.. hopefully I can use a 10g though mounted above the sump in the stand.. I figure I'll T off the return line and run a portion of water to the refugium and then just gravity feed it back to the sump..

Well here's what I've constructed sooo far this is just the frame there will be 3/4"plywood in the actual shape of the tank on the top and bottom of the stand and then wood bracing coming down in the front in between the two pieces of plywood.. I'm planning on having a 20g sump, in there and at least a 10 or 15g topoff reservoir and hopefully a 5-10gallon refugium all inside this stand.. I'll see how much room I have after I get it build a bit more=)Im planning on having a completely removable front either out of wood or smoked acrylic... I'm leaning towards the acrylic but probably won't do it because I think it would cost a fortune

For some reason photobucket is taking forever to load the pic so I'll post it later..

OK so here's the frame I built for my stand so far. It's overbuilt...
the one brace on the back that looks outta place is kinda just sitting there right now it was leftover 2x4 I had layiong around I don't even think I need that additional bracing but I like to overbuilt stand.. this thing is sooo strong already and doesn't even wobble

BammBamm, you my friend has a new build thread every other week! I love it!!!! :) Hahahahah my lady would never let me do such a thing. You're a lucky man my friend.

Thanks Rion shes a great girl I love her!!!

here's some new pics=)
Well here's what I have now I need to move the bracing around on the back to accomodate a shelf Im going to make to hold a refugium the stand is a total of 37.25"tall

Your stand looks boring. May I suggest that you color it up a little. How about a Ronald McDonald Playhouse theme?

Just kidding. This image has some design changes that I'm going to suggest in my next post.
