Hi, does gracilaria release its toxins like grape caulerpa? Thanks

To the best of my knowledge gracillaria doesnt contain toxins like caulerpa. It can die if conditions arent right and possibly release stored nutrients into the water, aside from that I wouldnt be concerned.

The issue isn't that of Caulerpa releasing toxins, if it doesn't go sexual many people actually consider caulerpa to release beneficial compounds, however if it dies or goes sexual thats when it can cause a tank to crash, if enough gracilaria dies it an destroy your tank too.

I have never read of caulerpa releasing beneficial compounds, in all of the expert articles and discussions I've read, keeping caulerpa in a reef tank is frowned on.
