Grand Nano Build (pics)

Tangwich

In Memoriam
About 3-4 weeks ago, I puchased a 34g Red Sea Max complete established system from a fellow reefer. He had a Purple tang, a Blue Hippo Tang, a firefish, a mandarin, a clown and a lawnmower blenny...yes in a 34 gallon nano :eek2: :(
I was very happy to get this tank and send the inhabitants off to new, BIGGER and better homes.
So after making some mistakes and not being happy with certain decisions that I made with my 225g reef tank, I'm now going to do things differently with this tank and really enjoy the entire process this time around.
So far, I have taken out all filtration, the stock skimmer. Have ordered a media rack from StevieT and bought a Tunze nano skimmer 9002. Bought some filter floss, purigen, chemipure and even replaced all bulbs with new ones. Have bought 2 Koralia 1's for added flow. I also bought a 1/10 JBJ arctica chiller since this tank is in my bedroom and it gets quite hot in there. This chiller is great, very quiet and very efficient. The tank has been running about a month and I have just now done the rockwork that I'm happy with.
So far I just have pictures of my rockwork. Wanted more open space for future inhabitants with several "levels/layers" of rockwork for different corals with different lighting needs. Ok, so enough with the novel, on with the show ....btw all feedback, suggestions and comments are welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks Nano352, I'm hoping that it turns out the way I have envisioned it. Since my 225g has satisfied my need and want for all my favorite larger fish, this one is going to have a light bioload as far as fish are concerned. I will focus on keeping a few sps on the first/higher level, leaving lower levels for acans, exotic zoanthids and maybe a small torch or frogspawn just for beautiful waving movement.

Thanks RSMreefer, glad you found my build thread. I had a VERY busy weekend and very productive...went to about 10 LFS and 1 forum member's house and picked up some choice pieces. Will post pictures shortly.

Ok, here we go...some of the corals were moved from my 225g and some of the pieces are new. Sorry about the horrible shots as I'm using a point and shoot camera and soon will be buying something that can take great close up shots.

btw, the fungia I brought over from my 225g as it is still recovering from my Golden Dwarf Angel nipping at it. You can see the white areas are missing tissue and I hope it can make a full recovery with more personalized attention in my nano.

Also picked up a sexy shrimp and a pom pom crab but the sexy shrimp hid in the rocks and the pom pom made a quick home in the sand at the base of a rock and hid in there. And just in case some of you are wondering what fish I plan to keep, I am still honestly undecided as to a "fish list" as I want to keep bioload light but want the fish to be full of personality.

And as usual, a random pick from my 225g. Here is my Blond Naso being the big ham that he is..always trying to get into every picture..with my Red Sea Regal Angel in the background.

sup bro? looking good how about a fts? dude those acans are bad *** you know me and lps ill be taggin along for sure!

Hey Jesse!
The unknown coral up there is a Kenya tree. They grow like weeds so you might want to keep it isolated on a small rock in the sand. Those palys are button polyps. The Dendros and Acans look very nice, did you get those from a LFS or member?

Thanks for the coral id. The dendro I purchased from LFS and I've had for about 8 months and has grown two heads in that time. One of the acan pieces I got from a reefer last weekend and the other I bought from LFS.

BUSY WEEK!!!

BUSY WEEK!!!

So last two weekends were super busy for me as I drove to many LFS, visited many local reefers (bought frags they had for sale) and even went to 3 wholesalers. The gems I picked up are incredible not to mention the fact that I got great deals on almost all my new pieces :D

Many pictures ahead, still not of great quality as you can't see the "glow in the dark" effect on my neon green/yellow candy canes and my neon yellow fungia. Anyway, hope you enjoy the pics nonetheless and please feel free to comment on anything as I'm always open to new ideas and contructive critism. Both good and/or bad.
