Grand Nano Build (pics)

Here is another little guy that I picked up over the weekend, neon blue goby

Here he is again, can you tell that I love neon animals?

Now here is something very interesting. I don't know if you recall my orange fungia. Well I moved it from my 225g to my nano because it was pretty badly beat up from my Golden Dwarf Angel so this is what it looked like two weeks ago

And here it is today, looking much MUCH better and I'm spot feeding it Mysis and it seems to be loving it because it gobbles them up as I gently place them on the fungia's tentacles.

And this week's random shot of my 225g is of my of the beautiful specimen that I was able to obtain this last weekend. By far the most beautiful and active fish I have ever had the pleasure of keeping.

Thanks Nemus, this tank will be mostly dedicated to corals as I have found a great appreciation for their beauty and for their specific needs.

Thanks Nano, as of now I have moved some corals around and have yet to take a fts of the new look. Hopefully sometime this coming weekend after I get a couple more nice pieces ; )

My crazy jawfish

My crazy jawfish

So I was doing my random check on my Blue Spot Jaw to make sure he's doing ok and I see something really strange..seems that since I didn't provide him with any rock rubble to build his home, he took it upon himself to get a ricordia that's mounted a frag disc and carried it half way through the tank to help build his home :eek1:  Here's the pic. I have since removed the ric and placed it on top of a rock and in exchange taken some rock rubble from my 225g and given him his construction material :D
Horrible picture I know, but you get the idea..

Thanks Ricunger, not as of yet...should be posting one up sometime this weekend.
Thanks for stopping by and inquiring about an fts and not just checking the pics out and moving on as sooo many others have done. Have two close friends with incredible well established nanos (one a 34g solana and the other a 28 nano cube) and they refuse to document their tanks or do a build thread or even post up pics because of the aforementioned reason. Sad that some of the reefers on this forum lack consideration, but oh well, who cares, I'm continuing with my build thread and will post more pics soon, better ones I hope : )

FTS

FTS

So I was able to get a couple of fts, not of great quality but what else is new

The blinding bright spot towards the bottom center of the tank is the neon yellow fungia..

And here is an angle shot looking down in front of the tank, this one is a bit darker but this is just to give you an idea on the spacing between the corals.

So now I ask for opinions from all of you...I still want to add many more corals (acans, exotic/rare zoanthids, sps and rics)...should I add more LR or leave it as it is? What do you think? Thanks

Hey Tangwich,
Tank looks great. The SteveT mods really make these tanks much better. I have one myself. I have a black cap jawfish in my RSM. I have a bluespot in one of my CAD's. They are the coolest fish. Very nosy. They are always watching what I am doing when working in the tank. Great personalities. My bluespot actually was using a seaweed clip for his door to his burrow for a while. It had fallen of the glass and he figured it would make a good door. I did end up taking it away and put a decent size piece of clam shell in there. Works great.

Well keep up the good work on the tank man.

tank looks great! i can see where adding a couple more pounds of lr could help. but it looks good the way it is now also.

Thanks Jason, you're absolutely right about the Stevie T media basket, it does make a huge difference in the tank and is probably the best mod anyone that has an RSM can make.
As for the Bluespot, this guy is full of personality and is always checking things out when I'm feeding or moving corals around. I just wish I didn't see him bonk his head about once a day when he attempts to jump out, but other than that, he's a great fish. Has already built an extensive tunnel system under the right side of the tank. Great job on the Black Cap Jaw, I love those fish too. Are those big jumpers too Jason? Have never kept one so don't know too much about them.

Thanks Jbob...yeah, can't decide on what to do with the tank. I love the open swimming spaces for the fish, but at the same time, the main purpose for this tank was to house all the corals that I can't keep in my 225g due to most of them being eaten by my Regal Angel or my Majestic (they love zoanthids) so now I must decide whether to add more LR or let things just grow out and add pieces to fill the empty spots that I have left now..

Yes the black caps are jumpers too. They are really cool fish. He has a maze of tunnels under my rock work as well as tunnels from under the rock up to higher levels in some of the bigger pieces of rock. Really fun too watch him check things out.
So far I have been real lucky with my bluespot not jumping. My CAD tank is open top. I havent seen him go any higher than mid level. I keep my fingers crossed that he wont jump.

Keep up the good work. Tank really looks nice.

By the way I think you have just enough rock in there. I like the open look to it. Not to overcrowded. Room for the fish to swim. Still plenty of room for corals too.

I was reading your post with the look of shock that your Bluespot hasn't jumped. If I had an open top, mine would have died 49,347 times already..lol..it always bonks it head on the lid then comes down and goes in his hole. Thanks for the feedback on the Live Rock question and I think you're right as I love the open look myself. Besides I still see a lot of purple liverock showing and I plan to cover every inch with different corals.
