Great Barrier Reef

So I'm 1 week into my adventure down under and tomorrow I am headed to Cairns. Australia has been awesome so far but this is obviously the part of the trip I have been waiting for!!!! I'm extremely excited and yes, pictures will follow.

I dive on Thursday and Friday so not sure when I'll get the pictures up but I'll do so as soon as I can find some unlimited internet access.

Be back soon!

I thought you were talking about the LFS in Boca. Wow! The REAL Barrier Reef. Please be selfless and tireless in uploading pics for us, puhleeeeeeeeese!

Thank you.

definitely will guys....its just a matter of getting a internate connection here that doesnt have an upload limit. That's ben one of the more surprising things about Australia.....Internet is till stupid expensive and has some very limited capacity when you buy it.....like in the particular hotel im in now it's $25 for 24hrs and only a 100mb limit. crazy!

I was going to ask if you going to see the Barrier Reef! But I guess this answers my question? lol

Enjoy Cairns! I lived there for four months in undergrad for a semester abroad. Did some ReefCheck training with my dives. My only regret was not being able to take my camera along during many of those dives (that and not being able to smuggle frags back!).

Find that electric blue zebra T. maxima I saw and photo it, will you?

Be sure to hit up The Wool Shed, dance on some tables!

ok guys....the tease keeps going....So I did 3 dives today along the Agincourt Reef. Unfortunately, there was no sun and it was raining all day but nonetheless, the Reef was amazing!!!! Corals every where you turned. You had to try really hard not to run into them! Thankfully all of the divers and snorkelers were really careful and did a great job as far as I could tell.

I saw the biggest clam I have ever seen!!! I seriously didn't know they even got that big!! No joke, this thing was at least 6 feet long maybe 3 ft wide!!!! Yes, I got a picture but unfortunately its hard to tell just how big it was because there was no one nearby for reference.

Anyway, I also shot some pretty cool video. But of course, with no sun my underwater point and shoot could only do so much.

I am diving again tomorrow and hope to posts pics soon but can't just yet.....I know , I know.....sorry.

And finally, here are the pics! So the first day I went I was just learning how to use the camera. So I had a lot of bad pics, many out of focus, and to top it off it was really cloudy. The second day, I learned how to use the camera a bit better but it was also very cloudy. Visibility was only about 10-15m on all four of my dives.

Good news is that today I am heading out again and so far the weather is perfect! Fingers crossed it stays that way. The sun makes such a difference in the colors of the reef.

Some of the last pictures you see was at a part of the reef where I snorkeled with my wife and the sun was actually out for quite a bit....some of those I felt came out real nice for an underwater point and shoot.

This is the clam by the way that must have been 5-6ft long....I swam right over it and it was definitely longer than me and I'm 5'8". It was gigantic!
