My wife and I really enjoyed ourselves at tonights meeting. I think the meetings are getting better every month(or I am just understanding more). I hope every one who got one of "Leeds ugly brown acro" keeps me informed of what it does in thier tank.
See you all next month. :wavehand:

I think I will be looking to join OMAS, I am a total newbie to salt though and could really use the info.

what do I need to know?

thanks

Mike

Thanks for the frags John! Thanks to Bill Pond for allowing us into his beautiful home, and the very informative talk on water parameters.

Evil Monkey, Thanks for your interest in OMAS. Our meetings are generally held on the third Tuesday of every month. Membership dues are 20 bucks and are paid annually. The experience level of our members is very broad, beginners to advanced, you can learn a lot from just talking with people. I am unsure where our next meeting is to be held, just watch this forum as the info is always posted here in advance. Hope to meet you soon!

The next meeting I was told by Bobby Mercado was to be at this house next month.

Also when you pay your $20.00 we will show our secret hand shake and just like that your in.

Do you have any larger tanks that could be used for salt. I have never ran one small but I have heard it is very hard to keep every thing stable. But hey use what you got. Great to have you on the board keep posting and asking questions.

But definatley join up because the benefits pay for themselves very quick.

thanks, I will look more into to this, I have been looking to join some sort of aquarium club for some time.

I have been thinking about tearing down my 46gl.....but I have it as a planted tank, and the occupants could be moved to the extra 10 I have, exept the plecos, the plants are well established and I wouldn't like to move them.

the refugium that I am adding will add another 2-3 gallons.

Bill, thank you very much for housing the meeting and your hospitality. You have an amazing tank and a wonderful place! Sorry we missed so much of the meeting. What I did get to catch was very informative. For anyone that is new and still a little confused, feel free to post it in the forum and we can help clear up any misunderstandings.

Everyone else, it was great seeing new and old faces alike. For those that I got to talk to, thanks for sharing with me and lending me your time.

I look forward to seeing everyone next month.

i think its one of the if not the best meeting we have had!cant wait till the next one does anyone have a subject or a speaker ?if not i might see about doing something.

Hi Scott,

The next meeting is at the home of Bobby and Judy Mercado's. As such, they are the hosts AND the speakers !!

I have you down as a guest speaker at one or more future meetings, and as you and I have discussed, also plan to take you up on your invitation to host an OMAS workshop sometime this summer.

Thanks,
George

Re the next meeting at Mercados or future workshop(s) at the various lfs?

Re the next meeting at the Mercados, the topic essentially will be:

"Why We (Bobby & Judy) have our tanks set up the way that we do"

In discussing the current state of their tanks, Bobby and Judy will summarize what has worked for their critters and what has NOT worked for their critters over the years.

Re topics for future workshops in interested local lfs, let's brainstorm !

Thanks,
George

KittyJ,

I will email directions and the Mercado's street address to the OMAS Group in a few days.

thanks,
George

that is freaking sweet I cant wait to see it really go all the way. Thanks for the pic. I'm glad I have the mother colony still

WOW jjmcat that is sweet. Mine hasn't colored up any more than that pic I posted. We need to know your lighting and feeding. A lot of my corals are "lightening", buy still growing. I'm curious if it's my lights (conglomerate of T5's) of if it's something to do with lack of nutrients.

5500k hallide and vhos.I feed alot and skim a little.10% water change a week or so.Its got to be the lights.
