Salt Creep
March 1st Spring Auction.
80 community drive Tallmadge, Oh
Starts at 12:00pm
Been there once around 7yrs ago, lots of stuff, mostly freshwater. You never know what you might find!!!!!

I'm a member of that group as well, good group of people. And yes the auction is a blast!!! It's a hodge podge of whatever people bring. Yes, it is mostly fresh water but there are some sw fraggs once in a while. Alot of equipment and plants. It would be nice to see more salt warer equipment, fraggs and even some fish and critters. There are refreshments, raffals and 50/50 drawlings. But it is pot luck, I took 18 angel fish in three bags one time and made over 80.00 (spring). The next time I took 24 fish in 4 bags and made less than 20.00(fall). It was still alot of fun because I got some great deals!!! I'm taking what is left of the angels from the last batch because my discus decided to lay eggs!!! I need the room. I can't decide, too many or not enough tanks!! So if you need to get rid of somthing, bring it!! or hope to get a good deal on whatever come raise your hand. It's a 70\30 split, 70 to the seller and 30 to the club. regestration begins at 11:00am and auction at 12:00pm til all is sold. Hope to see you there!!!!

I've been there when people bring in saltwater equipment that may go for a bargain if only one saltwater person is there buying. One auction a pet shop brought in all their reef/marine supplies and equipment. You never know. However I have had a few people from the Akron and Canton areas contact me about how they can sell their reef systems this year. I suggested the Akron auction

and for those in the Canton area, the auction the week before between Canton and Massilon.

If people do bring in sw items this time, having buyers might encourage more sw sellers the next time. So if you can, show up, eat the sandwiches, the brownies and ricekrispy squares, buy some raffle tickets and keep your eyes open. One auction I bought a new sealed bucket of salt mix with a tee shirt in it for about the cost of table salt. My son keeps asking me to buy another one like that for him.

Must have been before I got involved, would have liked to been there for that one. Just started going Three auctions ago...I'm hooked!!! ssshhhh don't tell everyone, that means more the compitition. So if you want to drop off your sw stuff and leave, thats fine with me. Bring, fraggs, fraggs ,fraggs oh and hardware, fish, chato, live rock, live sand, test kits, salt, attitives, and anything salt, you get the point. This might bring out more of the sw people. Hope to see you there!!!!

New to club. Does c-sea have an auction? If so when and where? Other than the fraggathon(awesom, joined c-sea, learned alot, and got some fraggs) and the fragg swap comming up.

C-SEA used to have auctions, but only one every few years and then none. I think the last one was about 15 years ago. We had it in one of the Cuyahoga County Fairground buildings. It does take a lot of work to do one, so you have to have members who think it's fun to auction until their voice is gone, and others who enjoy running from the auctioneer to the sellers and back until they are worn out. There is a computer program to track an auction and do all the calculations, but you have to have a few more people who think it's fun to sit and data entry all the sales. The part that is fun to me is getting a check in the mail as a seller. I can pare down and organize all my old stuff and take what I won't need in to convert it to cash, plus you can then call it hobby money and it doesn't count in the budget.

Thanks for the info, I will try to make it there!
Hey Sohal, if you want to carpool, I am close enough to you to save you some gas. I usually leave at about the last minute,(11 AM to arrive just as it starts) and stay until the end. (Usually 5-7 PM but once in a while later if it's a huge auction) If it's huge, there can be bargains at the end, and I stay and help put the chairs away unless I bought a "rescue fish" that needs attention. I will take one or two seats out of the van so there is room for lots of little or a couple big (tank?) buys.
