Green Alage : Help Needed

Dear Friends,
Currently i find that i have these green dots on my glass that are very difficult to scrape off.. Only the use of sharper objects like shaving blades or metal pieces remove them.

Is this green algae?

the water parameters when tested seemed ok..:
1.026 Salinity
0 nitrate and Phospates
26 C temperature
there is enough flow of water in and around the tank...

I have DIY Cone Skimmer and Phosban reactor operational in the tank.. so no red-slime or brown algae in the tank.

I guess when i clean my glass using the shaving blades, it takes approx 2 wks for the green-dots to appear again...and it is a pain the clean them as the regular scrappers dont remove them...

do help me out with this...

I get them too. They are much harder to scrape off than the normal green algae. I'm not sure what they are. They might be some sort of diatom, which has a harder internal structure, or might just be a tougher type of green algae.

I get those, but a few brushes with the Mag Float take them off.

You have a mag float? they are A LOT safer than razor blades on glass.

Man i really envy u guys... i dont Get Mag Floats here in India.. just the normal heavy duty scapper... and hence i gotta use Blades to remove them...

Anyway i can reduce them Randy? any thing else needs to be checked? Actually i have turned of my MH's for some time now (been over a month) as there are only softies in my tank...

I actually do not know of a way to prevent them aside from reduced nutrients to decrease all algae growth.

FWIW, I have a Hammerhead magnetic scraper, but it doesn't do a good job on them.

Thanks Randy..
I am DIYing a Magnetic Scrapper to suit my design using magnets and Acrylic resins.. till such time blades are my best friend!!!.

This little attachment to a mag float is great for removing coralline algae & other stubborn algae & it can save many of us back pain:

That looks interesting, Cliff. Is it just for use in glass tanks? The info. says that there's a removable razor blade for use in glass tanks only, but there's no mention of a plastic scraper attachment as alternative to the razorblade.

Cliff thanks for that information. I use a razor blade with duct tape onto my magnetic scrapper to do the cleaning of hard stuff... but this is definitely much better.
