I have notice green algae growing in clumps on the top of my sandbed. Half inch sand bed. Water parameters are fine. 12 gallon nanocube.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to combat this problem?
Nutrient control is the key to all nuisance algae problems: water changes with a high quality salt mix and purified water, protein skimming, macroalgae harvesting, careful feeding and dosing, good water flow to keep detritus in suspension, etc.
If its the same velvety green algae I get on my sand, its almost ALWAYS due to me adding too much phosphate too fast to my tank. The new phosphate sponge should help out, along with a fast growing macro.. that will long term help to keep P levels down so long as it has enough nitrates for growth.
