Hervivores is a good way to control alga problem with out go to the chimical.
But the firts thing you will need to find out is what is cousing the problem.
the main suorses of the algas food are light, unate food (overfood), and nitrates.
You may need to reduce your ligthing periord if is to much, put just the rigth amount of food in the tank, and check your water parameters for nitrates. (red slime algae is related to nitrates problem). Phosphates are food for plants so is one of the parameters than have to point to 0
Green slime Alga (GSA) is overfood problem, but are many reazon why you could have this problem, if the tank is new could be one reazon.
In the nitrates I have found than is very important to test your water before you add it to the tank. If you have a RODI unit check your filters if not check your water for nitrates before adding to the tank and make water change 20% weekly. Some botle water has as range of 20 in Nitrates so wont mater how often you change your water will always have higth nitrates, so you will always will be fingting with red slime.
Every aquarist in one point has to figth with this algaes problems dont worry but have pacient.
Key to sucess
-test your water for nitrates before add it to the tank or water changes
- phosphates in 0
-cut your light peroird
-dont over food your tank
- a good cleaning crew to eat unwnated food in the rocks and the sand
- good Skimmer
Hope it could help you
