Green Anemone

I took a picture of this green anemone (using my cell phone) that's in a fish store near me.

In person it's brighter. Does it look bleached? Also, which carpet is this?

I want to say that this picture isn't a great representation of the color, so it might be tough to tell if it's bleached or not. In person, it's brighter, more neon and not as white looking.. if that matters at all.

It's a good size too: about 6-8 inches in diameter.

It sure appears to be a Haddoni to me. It isn't horribly bleached, but I would still consider it bleached --- at least how it looks in that pic with my monitor.

But, assuming that it is still sticky and its mouth it tightly closed think it would color up nicely given the proper conditions.

It's hard to tell from the picture but the mouth looked good. Do these come in naturally at very bright (almost neon) colors? I know the shop owner wouldn't intentionally sell a dyed anemone, but I've never seen one that bright. (again, hard to tell in pics)

IME, they don't come naturally in bright neon colors.

I don't think the one pictured is dyed, just think that it has bleached slightly, and would be a darker green when/if it covers.

Heck, my blue one was a bit lighter when I first got it. Think it has to do with collection/shipping stress.

No, it isn't the same picture.

But, it is the same Haddoni, about 2-3 years apart.

a healthy carpet's mouth should be like this.....first pic is when i first got it from shipping...second pic is after it anchored itself in the rockwork...
as long as your carpet's mouth is not gaping wide/open then its fine...in time it will gain its color back

Does anyone keep their carpet with a "larger than sugar sized sand" substrate? Mine isn't crushed coral, but it's the Sea Floor grade sand; a bit larger than sugar-sized.

I think that is the sand that I use in all 3 of my tanks.
