That stuff is generally referred to as... "green bubble algae". It can be a pain in the butt if it gets out of hand. Also, if you pop the bubbles, they spread seed. You can remove them quite easily by using your fingernail at the base. Emerald crabs sometimes eat it as well.

Nothing to be alarmed about. But I get annoyed when people compliment my "little pearly bubble things".

wow thanks for posting that and replying with that, someone told us from the LFS just to pop them in our tank, and thats what we've been doing, maybe thats why it seems like its spreading...

Theyre called Valonia.
They look cool until the whole tank is filled with them.

I had a smaller oblong strain once that covered everything and was alot harder to get rid of than the bigger bubble kind.
I finally ended up growing caulerpa all over my tank to choke it out and it worked.
Emerald crabs really never helped mine.

I say as others pick them off carefully now before they get out of hand.

Almost nothing eats it. Emeralds, maybe, and sometimes; an urchin may knock it off. The only thing I've got that occasionally nibbles it is my largest scarlet hermit.

I'll have to try a new emerald. I hate the bubble algae, but I giuess it's better than green hair algae to get rid of.
