Green film algae on glass

Hello folks,

For a few weeks now I've had a green film algae problem I didn't have before. My tank is about 7 month old and I user home made RODI water for my mix along with IO salt.
My phosphate was reading between 0 and 0.3 until today that it read aprox 0.25.
I have to scrape the glass every 2 or 3 days or it turns very ugly. I haven't noticed it on the rocks or sand, those look just like always have. When I scrape it I see the green stuff flying away.

Any idea of what could be causing it and/or how to solve it?

Thanks!

Mine builds up a little prior to my refugium and even after for a bit. I scraped captured in filter sock and did a water change. Seemed to minimize and finally stop after about 5 rounds. Finally got nitrates and phosphates almost to zero.

Honestly if I don’t have to clean my glass after three days I’ve let my nutrients get too low and I start to loose color in my SPS corals. Unfortunately cleaning the glass is just one of those required chores if you are keeping a reef tank.

Long time no see buddy

I scrape mine about every third day... if life happens..and it goes a week... my tangs and rabbit fish have a hay day with all the floating green fruit roll ups lol

what is your bio load on the reefer 350? like what kind of fish do you keep?

I have a 45 gallon with kinda heavy bioload and I have to scrape every day. I know when my nitrates was a bit higher, the green film algae will start forming again by the time I completely scrape all the glass.

It's part of the awesomeness of having such beauty in your home! [emoji16] +1 on the rollups!

Thank you all! I just needed to know it was normal. It is interesting it started to happen not too long ago and I don't relate it to high Phosphates and Nitrates because they were both fine when the "issue" started.
I take is part of the talk life :)

@LeJune, yeah...I've been busy and a bit away from the forum! Nice to be back :)
