anyone know a good way to remove green hair algae from a zoa frag? had a algae bloom awhile ago from using tap water when i fist started the tank. learned my lesson switched to RO/DI and got the algae under control. the only spot of significant algae growth is on this zoa frag and i cant manage to pluck all of it off.

any suggests would help tons!

Can the same thing be done to candy cane and star polyp frags?

Zoanthids, from what I have read and personally experienced, are by far the most resilient coral to peroxide. Ive read articles where people have done strong doses of peroxide to tank water and forgotten about the zoa being dipped for an hour or more with no detrimental effects. Not recommending it, just an anecdote to show their toughness.

On the other end of the spectrum, certain LPS and SPS corals will react to the peroxide extremely negatively and die quickly. Just search on here for different threads about peroxide treatment, I found a wealth of information on the topic.

Yep!
I would recommend, as normally do, 10% hydrogen peroxide to 90% tap water for 1 minute.
You ca rinse the frag in tank water before returning to the system if you want.
The hydrogen peroxide is the 3% from the drug store.

Grandis.

The chlorine in tap water will not harm the zoa?

The peroxide dip worked wonders.

I actually was dipping an acan frag i had and accidently left it in the peroxide dip for about 10 minutes while i was distracted replacing the other zoa frags i dipped. thought i killed it for sure but it plumped up and was happy after about 2 days.

Dipping with Peroxide

Dipping with Peroxide

I have two zoa frags in QT I dipped in coral RX then a few days later in a 4:1 3% peroxide solution, 4 min with no algae change over the 4 days after treatment. The algae has not grown in the last two weeks it's been QT any suggestion on dipping with peroxide or what I may be dealing with, hate to toss them out if they can be saved.

Photo below is a piece pulled off that has been in the solution four days.
