Green hair algae!!!

Does anybody have any suggestions on beating this stuff? I've scrubbed all the rocks, done lots of pwc's, added more flow, added phosban, added critters, upgraded protein skimmer, added macro algae, and added a mangrove plant. But nothing seems to help. Sure, it looked great after I scrubbed off all the rock! But after about 5 days the stuff is coming back. I about to throw in the towel! Any suggestions please?

75g tank
2-150w MH an 4 t-5 actinics
ammonia 0
nitrites 0
nitrates 0
phosphate .05 (added phosban)
calcium 390
kh 11 dkh
ph 8.2
salinity 1.025

What about a zebrasoma tang?

I cut out feeding almost entirely. I just bought and added an aquac ev180. But it isn't producing much......

How often are you doing water changes? Have you measured the water that you use for top-off and water changes for phosphate?

top off has 0 tds and 0 phosphate. I did about 175 gallons worth of changes last month. Now I am doing about 5g/ week. Do you think I should be doing more per week? Would it be better to do a little bit every day or a larger change every week?

I do five gal a week on mine. I first use a turkey baster to kick the debris up from the LR and then perform the water change while the debris is floating.

I do 8g every Saturday in my 75. Also evaporate 2g RO/DI daily.

My tank is a 75g with a 45g sump (about 30 gal in it) and a 40g frag tank. Total volume is around 145g. I added some scarlet hermit crabs, blue leg crabs, 3 emarald crabs, 4 mexican turbos, some astreas, nassarius snails. Today I added a sailfin tang and a foxface rabbit fish.

what is your photoperiod? i would say that if you have new lights and you got a bloom of algae you should cut your photoperiod back to about 6 hours and then after 2 weeks work up to 7 and the same after 2 more weeks to 8, and so on, until you get what you want for photoperiod. i run 8 hours a day, but have the same problem, and bumped back to counter the light shock. it's working great.

I would also try a sea hare. I have two dolabella sea hares and they devour hair algae, and they are pretty cheap too.

I had the algae problem before I switched the lights. I'm currently running the lights about 5 hours a day.I tried sea hares and they wouldn't touch the stuff. They were hairy sea hares from reescavengers.com I think. What is GFO? I bought a foxface rabbitfish and a sailfin tang today. Hopefully they will eat some!
