Green long tentacle

This is my first experience with anemones, just want to get some feedback on my green long tentacle which I got one week ago. Posting a pic and short video, please let me know if it looks ok and not in distress. I also have a RBTA which is behind one of my rocks and my 2 clown fishes have found it and started hosting it.

I'm just curious if its normal that its tentacles look stringish. I've noticed he looks like that during most of the day but he beefs up late at night when i have the only my blue lights on. I use CREE LED's 36x3w fixtures (2 of them).

normal for a LTA.. believe they are also known as the curly que anemones iirc.. looking good so far.

That's good to hear. Can you give me some tips on feeding it? How often should it be fed? I was told once a week is fine. I bought some silver slides but have been running into small issues with those. Every time I cut some pieces up and put one on it, my cleaner and fire shrimp run and steal it from it

I've never kept a LTA, but meaty pieces of food (krill, scallops, squid, etc) once a week is probably fine.. You need to keep your shrimp away, they are opportunistic.

Don't feed silversides... feeding silversides (whole I believe) has killed numerous anemones. I bought a pack, and threw them out because I do not want to take a chance.

My LT has died!

My LT has died!

Ok, I took a short trip and really this was my first time being away from my tank. Was gone for 5 days and I returned today to find my green LT face down on the sand. I could only see his foot. So I turned him over and this is how he looked:



No idea how long he was like that. All I know is that before I left, he just recently moved the day before to a new spot and looked pretty awesome i may say. I also fed him before I left and seem to eat pretty well so I am baffled. All other livestock is doing well in the tank, and all paramaters good.

I also have a RBTA and it is also doing well but want to mention that this RBTA was my second one as the first one that I got 2 days before this last one dissappeared and has never been found.

I am very very dissappointed in this loss as the LT was my favorite. I just don't understand what could have happened.

What type power heads do you have and what is their angle/flow over this guy??

The other one I bet found a slot/cave and receded into it.

I have 2 Mp40's that are on opposite sides of each other (72" long tank) and have (2) 36X3W CREE LED's. I found him face down right under my left side Mp40. Before I left, he was in the middle of the tank.

The other RBTA was under a rock and slid between its crevaces...but my clowns are trying to get him out.

If you can get a strawberry container (the one with all the slits in it)

Place it over it as it will have plenty of flow. Place it over it in the area you want it to be. YES... it may not accept this place and not attach.. It really needs to find where IT wants to attach, otherwise it will continue to float around.

I had one float for two weeks. I would push it into areas that I thought it wanted then all of a sudden it attached. Stayed there until I did upgrade to the 180. It stayed in the place I put it, in the 180. I kinda made a spot for it that had the same type flow, so I know it was happy over the spot.
