I used to have a spawning pair of Mandarinfish. They would eat whatever they could catch and swallow. A large pod population is definitely a prerequisite for keeping Mandainfish alive long term- even with the ORA ones.

Lots of "really alive" liverock is key.

I have one and she eats whatever I throw in the tank sometimes even macro algae if it floats in the tank..I've had mine for around 2 years and its been doing great so I believe it's good if your mandarin is getting mysis and pods for food

I had a green live over a year in my 28. He would eat anything. I won't do it again without a 4ft tank. Sucker got fat eating nls pellets, mysis, etc. It can be done, IMO it shouldn't. Pod populations crash quite easily. Training them to eat prepared food is fine. They really are made to eat constantly.
