Green sponge killing zoos?

I have been slowly loosing this colony. Haven't paid too much attention too it and chalked it up to not enough flow or whatever. Not a rare or unique specimen but still I don't like loosing stuff and I dont want it to spread to other items. It is isolated to this rock. Any thoughts?

Maybe remove it and try burning it with calcium? Or scrape it back, use a strong bristled tooth brush to brush it off.

Maybe bring it to the top of the rock stack and turn the sponge toward the lights.
