green spotted puffer in love!

This is just the coolest thing I have ever seen. The cleaner shrimp, who loves his job, has just cleaned the green spotted puffer. I guess he learned fron the other tank mates. The coral beauty gets cleaned often, the maroons more now that they are larger, hit him up now and then but the puffer only tried to eat him. This is just soooo cool. He had his hands all up in the puffers gills. He cleared up a case if ick on the coral beauty! He has been worth every penny i paid for him. About 25.00 I think. He is a good shrimp! I gotta go look some more!

Cleaners can't clean ick. The fish either had sand or debris on him but not ick. If you did have ick the stuff is already inside the fish and you just saw the visible part of the disease. I would worry if it truly is ick. There are numerous posts that you can search for if you don't believe me. Not trying to be rude or the bearer of bad news....sorry

More hobbyists have ick in their tanks than they realize. So long as your fish aren't stressed or unhealthy, they won't typically develop a clinical infection. However, once one fish does break out, the others become susceptible.

There are many things in this hobby often refered to as "investments", as if any expenditure of money on rapidly devaluing items that produce no financial return is somehow "investing". That said, a QT truly is a good investment.

Your puffer WILL eat the shrimp. They might be happy together right now, but he will become dinner.

He was sold as a cleaner shrimp. He is big, about 4 inches, red with a red stripe down his back that forks into his tail. Very long tenticals, and a wierd front arm that is longer than the rest of them.

The ick on the cb was for sure ick. May have ran its course, and is now in my tank forever, waiting for me to get lazy to show its ulgy side. I keep the water pristine. The shrimp didn't cure the ick, but it did make the cb more comfortable and the visiable signs are gone! I couldn't get him out for treatment. I noticed the shrimp doing his thing and crossed my fingers. I may write back crying that my cb has ick still. time will tell.

The fish get a wide assortment of feeding every other day....sometimes everyday. I just love to see them eat. Everything eats from my hand except the cb, and the camel shrimp. The cleaner will take pieces from my fingers, as well as the pepermint shrimp. And the puffer aka puff daddy is spoiled rotten!

ps. i now have a qt set up. don't plan to get any more fish but sometimes i just gotta bring something home.
