Be patient. I bought a small frag of neon GSP that did not grow at all for 3 months. Then, it just exploded. It really is a beautiful piece. Neon green looks great in the day time and glows at night with my lunar light.

I was just surprised how difficult it was to trim back. Never had to use a scraper and wire brush before.

I used to have the same problem in my SPS tank.

I used fluke tabs and it did the job!

I put one fluke tab in 3 gallons of saltwater. I then dipped a rock with the largest GSP growth in the bucket for 30 mins. I triple rinsed the rock in saltwater (3 separate buckets) and returned the rock to the display tank. I left the skimmer on. I also used 2 cups of kent reef carbon in a media reactor to take care of potential toxin release from the GSP. Nothing happened for about a week, then suddenly ALL the GSP in the tank started to melt away.

It has been 2 months since the treatment. The GSP seems to have gone completely. I had a mini nitrate spike (up to 5 ppm) that I took care of by frequent water changes.

No inverts other than the GSP were affected. I have crabs, snails, shrimp, clams, an urchin, LPS, and SPS . All seem fine. I do not have any xenia but I hear that fluke tabs will kill it.

Obviously, there is always a significant risk when you do an in tank treatment with chemicals, and every tank is different. The treatment worked for me but be cautious if you want to try it. I had prepared 2 times my tank volume of saltwater and was ready to do a 100% water change twice if I ran into problems. Luckily, I did not

There is a simple and more affective way to rid your tank of invasive corals like GSP and Xenia.

I had the same problem; these corals can be extremely invasive in some tanks and mine was one of them. Each weekend I had to frag the stuff until my fingers were sore from cutting and tearing for hours. In fact, I was so disgusted I even considered breaking the tank down and starting over!

But before I did that I went the Fluke Tab route with great success.

Here's what I did:

1. Traded some of the most overgrown rocks with LFS for new Fiji rock and did some new acquascaping.
2. Fragged as much of the remaining Xenia/GSP as I could.
3. Added 3 new bags of carbon in my fuge.
4. Did my weekly water change.
5. Diluted one Fluke tab in tank water and poured in the return section of my fuge.
6. Four days later did a 12g water change (on a 65g DT) and syphoned off as much of the dead Xenia/GSP as I could.
7. Did my weekly water change that Saturday. (So, 2 water changes in one week.)
8 Have a good clean up crew (hermits) as they will eat the dead tissue.

And that did that! I couldn't have been more pleased, in fact I was so happy with the results I bought some new Zoa's to start over on the new rock.

A couple of things; if you have any cleaner shrimp take them out if you can as the drug will shock and kill them. It did to mine but it allowed me to get some peps which I wanted anyway.

If you do above, and maybe an extra one or 2 water changes you will be fine.
