Green star polyps worries

I used have love for all corals but now i worry about the ones that completely kill competitors. Will green star polyps kill and grow over zoanthids, seriotaporas, turbinadarias, monitporas, green galaxias, echinophilias, faavids, and/or acans?

I have a couple patches within 4 inches of all the corals listed and im a tad worried. Takes a lot of work to remove rocks and trim back

It will grow like a weed from my understanding but nothing a little under water weed trimming will not fix.

i love green star but it is an unstoppable force. i try to keep it on a rock that is raised up above any rock below it and not touching anything else. i then usually keep one other rock touching it so that it will creep over. it's a constant game of removing the full grown rock and replace it with a newer rock with a smaller patch.

the upside is i'm always selling off full grown rocks covered with green star.

i kill them the with kalk, weed is right with these things.

i do the same with xenia. I was a bigger rook when i placed the small patches of gsp and now im regretting it

my rocks are like dead acroporas or something. porous with stubby branches. I think it makes trimming it back hard(er) unless it peels off clean like a mat. ya live ya learn

I can grow sps and any lps but I just cannot grow gsp. Probably a good thing though, they do add nice movement and color to the tank. Keep them isolated on a rock on the sand bed.

Agreed. Isolated is the key with keeping GSP successfully without problems. That is how I have my GSP in my tank. Up front not touching the main rock structure or glass! Only thing on that rock with them in a big feather duster. That is probably the best and safest way to keep them.

Do you keep super clean tank water? I've noticed my green star loves for me to neglect the tank. The longer I go between water changes the faster it grows.

From my understanding it is a filter feeder thus nutrient water would most likely have that affect.

Yes it will.....................just about an hr ago i hand to scrape off GSP off from some rare zoas. They reached the edge and just started to grow over them:uzi:

I recently got some GSP with my first few corals. I'm thinking I'd like it to cover one end of the tank 40g Long.. thinking I will just glue a little mat of it to the glass and see what happens. (that end of the tank is painted black anyways)

Had to replace half my rock work due to GSP. Like HollyG said keep it isolated on a lone rock away from the rest of the aquascape. If you can keep it contained it is a great addition to any tank.
