Hey all,
I sold this guy my 7-8''(diameter) green toadstool about 3 weeks ago. Since then it's had no polyp extension and continuosly sheds tissue. However, it is not losing any serious mass or size. It has no holes and no other signs of disease....the guy who bought it has over 11watts of MH lighting per gallon and I had about 6watts of PC light per gallon....I sold him two other small green toadstools at the same time and he said the other two along with all other corals in his tank are doing fine. Does anyone have any ideas what might be going on.
All water perameters are good.
thanks in advance

with the constant shedding it sounds like normal acclimation to the lighting. when i went from modest VHO to extreme MH lighting on my 180 several yrs back all my leathers did the same thing, once acclimated to the lighting they still sheded every few weeks and growth was pretty substantial. just tell the new owner to make sure water flow is kept up to keep the slothing layers of the shed cleared away.

They tend to do things like this in new tanks. They are slow to fully acclimate. They almost always come back with time.

But there is a lack of polyp extension to accompany the constant shedding, is this something to worry about or can the toadstool continue living without polyp extension (b/c it already has been for the past 2 1/2-3 weeks)

In my experience they can live without polyp extension for a very long time. I used to have one that never extended it's polyps but just kept growing. The way that I got it to start extending polyps was to frag it. I think that they extend polyps to add to they're absorption of food.
