Greeni Triggerfish!

Stopped at Reefwise today and picked up an ultra rare Greeni Triggerfish. Spent about 2 hours deciding between the Greeni or the Crosshatch. I think I choose wisely though.

They have about the same temperament as a blue throat, crosshatch or a sargassum trigger so they are pretty docile.

Nice! I just picked up a 8" crosshatch and couldn't be happier. Doesn't bother corals or other fish.

what are you feeding it?

Nice pickup!!!

I haven't brought it home yet. I'm going back next week to pick it up. Brian did put some krill and octopus in there to show that it was eating.

I really liked the crosshatchs he had there, more so then the Greeni. He had a beautiful mated pair there that he was gonna give me at a steal but they two were just to big for my 180. He also had a 3" crosshatch that hadn't gotten its mature colors yet that I almost bought.

So I ended up changing my mind today when I went to pickup the Greeni at Reefwise. That and I brought the girlfriend and she felt the same way I did. We both liked the Crosshatch Triggerfish more then the Greeni. So, Brian was nice enough to let me change my mind and sold us the Crosshatch pair and kept the Greeni. On top of that, I got a beautiful bonded pair at a steal of a price.

So, if your interested in a rare and beautiful Greeni Triggerfish I know Brian had got a couple of nice ones at Reefwise.

I'll post some pictures of the pair once I get them acclimated and they get settled in their new home.

Well that was quick, I acclimated these two for over and hour and put them in the tank by placing the PVC pipe they were housed in the tank. Within 5 minutes they were out of the PVC pipe and roaming the tank.

awesome choice. I was gonna tell you ' the crosshatch is a better choice', but I didn't wanna rain on your parade :) I'm glad you switched over!

My crosshatch is already eating NLS pellets. I was concerned because he only ate silversides since I got him and I didn't think silversides had all the nutrition he needs. Here's mine:

They are amazing. I gonna try to get mine to start on pellets.

The thing I like about the Greeni Trigger is that the max size is about 6". Now I just need to get a bigger tank. These two are gonna push the limits of my 180.

Nice fish, just to clarify its Xanthichthys greenei which is commonly called the Kiri trigger. It also gets significantly larger than 6". Pacific Island Aquatics had one at 7" a while back and they will max out at around 9"-10". My favorite trigger by far. I wish I still had a tank set up to house it!

Here is the reefwise fish, listed on ebay for $598:

May, lost him in Sept. Could never figure out thr issue for sure. These guys eat like pigs, Rod's Predator food, love Krill the best.If you want bigger tank,PM me, may have what you want.

Thanks John. You should come out and see them sometime. Then you could pick yourself up a Greeni. I might have a couple frags you could take with you as well. I got two Cali Torts that have been sitting in my frag rack for a while.
