Greetings from THAILAND!!!

Well we made it to Bangkok after 33 hours travel time!

All I can say now is AMAZING....much more to come later, BUT I know where I am retiring!!

WE are now in Chiang Mai....big change from Bangkok a city of 10 million to this town of 100,000.

We had everything you could imagine seafood wise last night,lobster, clams, GIANT prawns, fresh and saltwater, mussels, and much much more....dinner for two? and lots of BEER?.............would have been over $100...for all the seafood we ate! $21.00 they have everything alive, and cook it right in front of you...I am in heaven!

Today we go visit the hill tribes and and elephant safari ride in the mountains....We did see Chinchans tanks in Bangkok, HE DESERVES "Tanks of the year" award....I took HD video....will have plenty for you too see when I get back.


Got to go my battery is low, and my elephant is waiting!!!!

Hey Gang

Update time....

Am in Chiang Mai Northern Thailand....

This is the most AMAZING country...I have been all over the world and have never seen a place like this....the people are the most friendly, the food incredible.

Yesterday we rode elephants through the jungle where Rambo 4 was filmed....the jungle is sooooo cool....birds, parrots....elephants are very smart, and gentle animals....but if they are hungry the stop and eat as they consume 10% of their body weight in food everyday.ever seen the discovery channel show on the elephants painting pictures...is where we were, and I got the painting the elephant made....unbelievable....they use the elephant dung for wrapping paper, the tube the painting is in is made of it....has elephant hair in it....the have whiskers like a wire brush...and the Mahouts drivers live with them for life, the elephants out live their human companions as they live to 100 years... I can not describe it, but have many pics to show when I get back and get Howard to post them for me.

The food is beyond belief....we went to a riverside local cafe last night.....all you can eat for a set price, anything you want, all you want....seafood is Killer...and so fresh it is Incredible

The cities and streets are SPOTLESS.....not a piece of trash to been seen, very clean country, everywhere....and the people are like none I have seen anywhere in the world....you can live like a king for about 10,000 a year, includes everything.....

Today we are going to the mountains to see temples, and more forest.....then tomorrow to Chiang Mai.....city of 10,000, big change from Bangkok, city of 10,000,000.

And the news is, am going to stay an extra week to go to Phukett, which is on the coast to see the ocean and the Dragons Teeth where the Bond film was made....#3 diving spot in the World.....when you are 1/2 way around the world, you may as well do it all!!
Have 600 pictures so far....need more SD cards....1 gig card here.....$18 US...

Australia is only 5 hours from here...India 4....china 2..Dubai...6.Burma..1....we are in a different world!

am at breakfast now....talk about fresh fruits! stuff I have never seen before, delicious!

gotta go....more updates later when we get back tonight..

Update!

Today we went to a teak factory where they make incredible furniture.....a jade factory as that produce about 75% of the worlds jade....and orchid farm, thousands of all types of killer orchids.....a silk factory where you see how silk is made from cocoon to the finished product.....the girl showed us the cocoons as they were stripping the silk from and and mentioned that the silk worm inside the Cacoon could be eaten......soooooo I said "Gimmie'. pop , into the mouth it went, tasted good but the other tourists about fainted....and the Thai girls said it was a first for an American tourist.....Hey you see the Indians in the amazon eating grubs all the time.....I survived...

went to the temple on the mountain where Buddhas elephant went and died, and there is a huge beautiful shrine to him....306 steps up the mountain....need more exercise like that!......

Tomorrow is the hill tribes....3 villages....to see...the long necks....and 2 others....is about 5:35 pm here right now....going to the killer seafood market restaurant again tonight....cannot get enough...

there is a night market and my girlfriend is going crazy....everything is soooo low price...pair of neat pants...$3 us....shoes $2 US....there is a 7-11 right across the street from the hotel....everything is in walking distance....only expensive thing is internet time....1 hour...$6......battery low again and it is seafood TIME

wow richard your vacation sounds AMAZING, cant wait to see the pics, it sounds like you are getting the real experience of what thailand has to offer, sounds like you are so busy though may need a vacation when you get back to rest up from your vacation. Enjoy it to the fullest!:rollface:

Is WAY cool here....

went way into the jungle today and visited the Longneck tribes.....remember national geographic....the tribes with the bronze rings around thier necks extending the neck....so they have real looooong necks.....

they showed us the rings from a woman, they weigh about 17 pounds....was real heavy ...I do not now how the live and sleep in them but they do....amazing.....their culture is simple but really laid back....nothing we are used too, but their women are so beautiful......really beautiful like Thai woman.....

Then to the Hmong tribe, even more primitive....the grew poppies for ever...but the government got them growing flowers instead.....fields and fields of killer blooms.....really pretty....are sold all over the country...

Today was the first rain we had...this afternoon...but only for an hour even though it is the rain season...

Tomorrow we go to Chein Rey....spelled wrong...and then our guide is going to sneak us across the Mekong river into LAOS.....to get the cobra whiskey....bottle of booze with baby cobra inside like tequila with the worm, but more potent I understand......LAOS....who would have thought!

Two days there then on to Cambodia to ANGOR WAT.....ancient culture...and killer temples.....then back to Bangkok, and fly down to PHUKETT, the ocean for 4 days there of beach and diving......they asked me if I knew how to dive....I said Yeah...bring it on!

If you ever considered coming here, this time of year is the time ...off season, very few tourists....we hardly see any...

The people here are like none I have ever encountered, having lived all over Europe...the Thais get an A++++++ from me....

6:13 pm here now...off to the SEAFOOD place again....best I ever had...

more later if I can find a new power supply, killed mine with the 220-110 converter....smoke...

You let the smoke out of the converter? Everyone knows that smoke is the most important part of all electronic devices. Let the smoke out and the device stops working!

You do realize that we will expect lots of pictures when you return and aren't paying a king's ransom for internet connectivity, right?

Yea Mon..,..

been way out in the jungle for 2 days....no net.....going to Cambodia tomorrow, Angor Waht ...spelled wrong....for 3 days...then off to Phukett...where the tsunami hit to check out their ocean....have 506 pics so far.....you will not belive what we have seen, this country is amazing....and the people are better...gotta go only 10 min net time...

Ok back from Cambodia....at Bangkok airport now heading for Phuket.......to the beach.....and diving.....Angor wat was amazing.....have many pictures...gotta go flight is boarding......

OK WE ARE IN phuket.....Kata Beach Resort, right on the beach....is the same hotel that we saw on the news where the Tsunami wave hitting the beach and flowing into the pool was filmed.....but there is no evidence of anything now...hotel is beautiful...nice beach...but today the weather is bad for the first time since we have been here.

30-40 knot winds and 6-8 foot waves..surfers paradise today, but is fine with me as we have been going nonstop for two weeks, 10 hour days sightseeing....so this is a good break for us.

Gives me time to get that Thai massage I have been wanting since we got here.
Had a killer dinner last night at a local restaurant, and today the chef is going to the seafood market to buy some fresh lobster for us for tonight's meal.

Pace is slow here compared to the rest of Thailand....no traffic...and laid back.
Going out for a walk to check out the town now and get that massage!

weather is better today.....went into the ocean to body surf.....10 foot waves...I am a strong swimmer....it was tough....rip currents....and crashing waves....but tomorrow we go to the lee side of the island to James bond island where the movie was filmed for an all day canoe trip....can't wait!

have a bout 650 pics now......John is going to hate me when I get back!

Boat trip

Boat trip

Today was way too cool, 15 mile boat trip to the dragons teeth where we canoed though tunnels in the rock made by the sea...to big lakes inside....mangroves 75 foot tall, really neat....went swimming on a nice beach and had killer
lunch on the boat...once again amazing people and great times!

Well I can fix you up....as I have all the info on when, where, what and who.....have info for the private guides we had....and where to go...if anybody needs info just contact me.

Thailand is truly an amazing place.....I would stay here a year if if could. Met more Americans today, been living here 10 years.......they say they will be here forever.

I have been/lived all over the world, but never had an experience like this...will never forget this trip.

Time is short thought, will be a sad day when I have to leave.....

One thing I know of runs on a windows server, if your web stuff is Linux then I need to find a Linux one or setup space on my server -- an option if you want to do that.
