Where did you see the tek/aquactinics lights? I went to the Aquactinic website and didn't see any

I think someone meant to say Aquactinics/Ice Cap. There is a thread in the Ice Cap forum about it.

39w t5ho

39w t5ho

I'm wanting to upgrade my mh lighting from 150w 10k with 300w vho super actinic to 250w 10k or 14k with a lumenark reflector and 39w t5 ho, blue+ blubs. My problem is the lumenark reflector is 11" wide and my tank is 36L x 24D x 19w. That only leaves 7" inside my canopy. Will 2 of the t5s w/ reflectors be enough. My main goal is to keep sps'. What do you think?

Thanks, Robert

yep, thats very similar to what i will be doing once i finally get my 90g up, exvcept i will use a smaller hqi reflector sothat i can cun 4 x54 of t5ho.

please post pics of the setup you have when you get it done:)

Do you mind if ask wht hqi reflector you plan to use?

you know, i really don't know at this time. maybe the reef optix 3??

i will ask hahnmeister and he will tell me which one to use;)

FWIW, I'm running 6x54W over my 120G (48x24x24) and it's wicked bright. 4 bulbs are on a 660, and the other 2 are on a spec ballast.

Here's some pics:

Perpetual,

Are you able to keep a fair ammount of high lighting requirement SPSs with that setup?

Just looking for an opinion, but what would you guys thing I should do first to upgrade my lighting setup?

I've got the Nova Extreme T5 4x54w over my 120 48x24x24. I was thinking retrofit SLRs into the fixture, remove the ballasts and put them against the side of the stand (they create a lot of excess heat), or maybe getting an IC660 would drive the stock bulbs better?

I think the best move would be the individual reflectors..

I don't have much SPS in that tank right now, mainly due to money reasons. I do have a crocea clam up on the rocks and a squammy on the sand bed that has grown over 1/2" in the last couple months.

Your best move is to get the SLR reflectors. After that, if you still want more light, then go with the 660.

OK, I quess my next dumb question would be, being that my tank is only 36" long I can only run the 39w t5s. So would the PFO vho ballast burn the 39w bulbs up. Hey just trying to pinch as many pennies as I can here. If I could make this work I'd just end caps and bulbs.

If I had to guess I would say the PFO ballast will not run T5's, or at least wont run them very long. The Ice Cap 660 can run T5, PC, VHO, T8 and about any other lamp out there. Ice Cap make a ballast for URI that is basically a cheaper version of the 660. They spec it as a VHO only ballast because the internal components wont hold up running PC or T5 lamps.

It would be a drag to get everything running on the PFO and have the thing crap out in a month or 2.

And the 39 watt T5's are about 35 1/2 inches with the waterproof endcaps installed.
