Group buy for Lobster/prawn eggs? (Dragonet/finicky fish food)

Well, as many of you know Nutramar Ova has been out of stock for quite some time now. I found a vendor carrying Ruto Lobster Eggs, which as I was told was the same thing as prawn eggs. This is excellent food for feeding finicky fish like mandarins and pipefish.
I'd love to order some but seems that shipping might be a bit prohibitive to buy just a few, so I am gauging intetest for a group buy. These would be 100g cell packs and I am guessing with shipping each pack would run around $15 after overnight shipping to the bay area.
In a small box they can fit about a dozen, and the bigger boxes 30-40. Let me know if you'd be interested in getting in on this.

i'll take 2 packs whats the shipping and cost? is it cheaper if we get more?
If we can get 12 packs then it's probably going to be around $15/100g pack.
We should be able to save on shipping for even more. Basically it's $8/pack, the overnight shipping that I ran a quick Fedex quote on was $85 for three lbs (but then again I don't have any decent discounts on my acct). Once we can confirm 12 packs, I will call them (Ruineman's aquarium) back to see if they can offer cheaper shipping. Figure $15/pack as sort of a high end estimate. I will probably take 3-4 packs. As with nutramar ova, a little of this should go a long way vs your typical frozen brine or mysis (little moisture since they are just tiny eggs, plus nutritionally dense).

hmm wow the overnight shippings expensive compare to what drsfoster offers and marine depot. they only charge like 25 bucks.

Yes, hopefully it will be less. I'm just budgeting for a worst case scenario. Alternately I could ask a local store to see if they can bring them in for us.

just checked out their website after reading this and what a bummer, they are out!
when do you plan on ordering? i might be interested in a few packs myself

If you haven't already, since it sounds like we have quite a few packs, you may want to contact one of the LFS to see if they'll do a wholesale order. The final price might be less, but I don't mind paying the same amount to support the LFS.

FYI, Robert of Neptune fame, posted on BAR he's getting a shipment in soon. You might want to shop local! (if SJ is local to you)

So, after many calls to and from the wholesaler to set up the purchase, and since there was all this interest from us, they ended up seeing if Neptune Aquatics (in SJ) would get them in. They ended up getting in 75 packs of the eggs for us to purchase, and I should add that because they bought all of it, they are the only retailer in the US that has it. They are in stock right now so if you are interested do swing by and pick some up (read stock up) since future availability is uncertain. The best by date is out to 11/17 so I will be vacuum sealing a bunch. My dragonets ate this stuff like crazy so I picked up quite a few packs in case they can't get these again. But the wholesaler tells me that they plan on regularly ordering these from the Netherlands, and Neptune will stock them. Very high quality food and the nutritional profile is out of this world- only 66% moisture, 20% protein, and 10% fat (high in DHA/EPA). So... figure it's at least twice as nutritionally dense as your average frozen mysis and will have a much better fatty acid ratio. I will post up a video of my crew eating this stuff up later!

Sweet -- thanks for letting us know. I'll probably head down tomorrow.
