Group buy for the meeting and who's bring what to trade??

I bought a few test kits used for super cheap on the for sale forums. Val and I share them cuz we live near each other and we split the cost down the middle. Others may want to do that.

Yes, he is trying to get me some "cleaned up product" photos...he must be having A LOT of trouble with his computer.

OK so no test kits. Darn. Should've ordered CUC! I guess I really should be testing my water before I add more inverts though.

So, on to more meeting details.
-What do you want me to bring? Something sweet? B'day cake for the b'days we missed since our last get together? Taco dip?
-We definitely need pictures so who's in charge of that?
-James you wanted us to discuss what we're looking for in this club right? We should come with ideas about that.
-Also, didn't you say you had some kind of suprise?
-Who's thinking they're going to make it?
-Directions?

Oh yeah and, James are your kids going to be home? We are trying to decide if we need an all day sitter for our 3 yr old. That's the downside to us both enjoying this hobby. We can't just leave her home with the spouse because neither of us wants to miss it.

Sorry about the rambling.

Swanwillow, you should come even though your build isn't going to happen for awhile. Garrett, you up to carpooling even if we have our 3 yr old in tow?:p

Hey, if anyone decides that they want to order CUC since the drygoods isn't going to happen, let me know. It wouldn't take too much arm twisting to get me to jump on those great prices. I checked today and the sale was still on. bluezooaquatics.com

I would prefer it if the kids did not join us this time around. But if you are traveling a ways and have your young ones, I understand. But please be considerate of my family regarding colds, flu and such. My children will be in the house, but not in the same area as us, the basement. My wife will have her hands full with our three (4yrs, 2yrs and 1 month old)....

As for food, I think grilling is out of the question. Let's just do some snacks. So bring chips, pop, sweets, dip, , basically a pot-luck. My wife hasn't decided what to cook up yet. Maybe some chili or something. Anyone have venison jerky?? I would love to try some, it's been a while!! Please, no beer. I am not against a beer or whatever, just not at this event. Thanks!!

Yes, I would like a head count please!!

Directions can be found by Goolgling my address, 401 Maple Ave S., Thief River Falls, MN 56701 PM me for home phone number please.
I have a camera and can take some shots, but please feel free to bring your own.

I have some extras I may give as door prizes...Nothing too special, but it's better than nothing.

As far as an agenda. I plan to start with meet and greet. Introductions. Food. Return for an introduction to my system. Demonstration on DIY kalk drip. More food. Frag trading and whatever else you want.

Sounds like it will be fun.
Cammie I think I am going to ride up with Randy from Park Rapids he is going to. But thanks for the offer.
I can swing by T-Juans and get some chips and salsa again if thats ok??

I don't have much for frags anymore but I can bring a few things.

Garrett

I believe I'll be bringing four altogether, plus frags. I can bring some pop or chips or whatever, Garrett get me some medium salsa from T-Juans! I'll be breathing fire the whole meeting though! We may be a little late, hard getting everyone going that early and we've never driven there before, meeting is at noon right?

I am hoping that no one will be offended by Alex being there...this is his baby, but with the "no kid" thing attached, I don't want anyone upset that he is going to be there and in the meeting. LMK. Also, LMK if you want me to bring anything from the store - the "resteraunt" part of owning a business has it's perks! I also will have zero things to trade, we'll just kinda of soak it all in this time around. I don't have venison jerky to share, but Alan made some GOOSE sticks this year - if you are up for that I can bring some!

Jason makes venison jerky and he may just have time to get a batch ready by Saturday! Count on that and I'll bring something else too. I'm not big on jerky so I probably wouldn't be "game" for goose sticks either but I'm quite sure Jason and some of the others would like to try them.

Sounds like Grandma or sitter is the best place for our 3 yr old. The older ones are happy when we have plans now. That means they get to hang out with friends that day!

Clarification about children. I am a family man myself. In past reef club meetings when we lived in Florida, Susan would take the kids over to a friends house or something. But we have a newborn in the house and I don't want to add any undue stress to my wife. Distances between us forces us to bring children for understandable reasons. Children are allowed, but I would like us to accomplish a healthy meeting without too many interruptions.

Dedex and Blennie, your children are more than welcome to join us. Normally I would say they can play in the basement with my kids, as that is their playroom. But our group is meeting down there, so my kids will be up stairs watching a movie or something. Susan may take them out for lunch, but with the newborn baby, weather is always something to think about.

The Top Chef (part time accountant, Chef, disciplinarian and Honey Do list maker and still full time wife and Mommy), has agreed to whip up a batch of her famous Chili. So we will provide the main course. Plus plasticware for eating.

As far as frag trading, bring something if you want. We can reserve the heavy trading for summer when livestock travels easier. And we will all have overflowing tanks filled with corals for trade.

Thanks everyone working together on this to get it running.

I am coming with Alex, and I REALLY want Alan to come to see your setup so he can build mine for me...I don't know how to explain everything to him, so if he sees it he can know what to do :-) I can bring crackers, shredded cheese, and sour cream for the chili - if other people eat it that way (maybe I'm wierd). And some goose sticks for the adventurous ones.

Sounds good everyone. Just doing a quick headcount and I came up with 12 people, give or take a few spouses. I have invited a few from my work who own reef tanks as well.

Feel free to bring cameras and such. Take pics and post them here.

I've never had a "Goose Stick" and am looking forward to it. Any dessert makers out there??

I'll bring dessert. We'lll need something to cool us off with the chili and salsa going on! It will be for belated b'day treats even though it may not be cake.

I'm drooling already. Food and frags. What more could we want!!
