GROUP BUY--SNAILS and BLUE LEG HERMITS

You know I was thinking about a group buy from maybe the captive reef, reefer madness, Jendub, or somebody. Maybe get some really nice corals coming. Most of those guys offer free ship over $150 and free frags at a certain point. I bet if we had a decent size order we could get a free frag for each person. What do you guys think?

Good news: They shipped! Estimated delivery: around lunch time Friday.

Bad news: The crews brought the astreas in last-minute, so they were bulk packaged because they didn't have enough time before the FedEx time constraint. We have to rinse and repack 300 astrea in groups of 25 as soon as we open the bag. She said the smell will knock us off our feet, but it's normal.

She hinted that she couldn't divide the rest of the order into the small numbers per bag we wanted because of box space limitations. I'm waiting to see her response to that question. We'll see what it looks like when they get here.
 
I know Charles from JenDub pretty well, maybe I can talk to him to see what Jen and him can put together if we wanted to go that way.

Jendub does have nice stuff, why dont you ask Doug since you know them, see what they could do. I dont expect everybody here to want to jump in, as a $75-$200 coral is not what everybody wants to spend, but if your wanting some of these nice pieces this could be a way to do it. I'd hate to order 1 or 2 tiny frags myself. I'd rather have them fill up a box with several orders. Another option is Atlantisaquarium.com they have really nice stuff, cheaper on some items I have had great luck with corals from them. Hell they always throw free stuff in, and I'd bet with a group order we could score a few free pieces, then you other guys could take some and raffle them off to the club members?
Just a thought.

yeah thats it, I see the cheapest stuff is about $60 but I see zoos for $30-$60 per colony all the time, if you want something you cant find locally these guys usually have it.
 
Wow thats great they have very colorful stuff and great prices, I'll look at all the details later but yeah that could be a really good one!

o.k well it sounds like there will be plenty of interest, I am gone till monday when i get back I'll call them and see what we can do, how to order, how to pay, all of that stuff. Then I'll start a post with the info and we'll go from there. I do really like reefermadness though, look at the "Aquacultured" page and scroll down to some of the frags, very colorful stuff, some as low as $15 and free shipping, with free frags to boot. Also the "handpicked" page has some reduced price stuff at the bottom, always great stuff for a 30% or so price reduction
The stuff at ultimatefrags.com is very nice as well. We'll see, I'll maybe shoot emails to all of them regarding a club group buy and see who wants the business the most and report back here next week.
 
BTW I really liked the way barry at clamsdirect handled each person buying and paying on their own, thats a great way to do it dont you all think? I will see if one company will do it that way, to me that will weigh heavilly on who I would want to go with.
It seems like that clam order we did went smooth as could be.

I ordered from reefermadness before. I went in with Eric D as a matter of fact. Nice frags they have. But I can never get the colors they show on thier site. I think Eric experienced the same thing.
 
Never get the same color without 20k lighting.
Thats the way most on line vendors shoot there goods is under 20k
I have ordered from most of them brought up here and good results every time
