GROUP BUY--SNAILS and BLUE LEG HERMITS

I asked them to divide it all by the size of each person's order. They said they'll try. You might want to bring a bucket of 1.025 water just in case. I plan to bring a bucket of my own 1.025 so I can get them rinsed and in my water ASAP.

rekn, apparently Key's Kritters (the fish store) is not related to the Internet store. I found a number to the LFS and they said they didn't know who Corrie was.

Todd, is that yours and Joe69's?

Dan N, not yet.

Rekn, I don't know. BTW, we still have 25 astrea and 75 hermits left if you're interested. Otherwise, it looks like Chris will take them.

I recently recieved 500 hermit crabs that were dry packed, acclimation is easy as there is no water in the bag. I simply dumped them in a shallow sump waited 10 minutes for them to realize they were in water again and start moving. Then I added them to what ever tank I wanted them to go in. Tank and sump water should be the same however.

We lost 5 out of 500 and yes I did count every one.

Just thought I would add my experiance with dry pack as there instructions seem way to complicated

Ahh, but by following their instructions we can reduce the loss rate to 4 in 500!

Still, I don't think they are really recommending that much--leave the bag closed until you're ready to rinse them; open the bag and rinse them, net them and put them in 1.025 water; use normal acclimation procedures until the water reaches your tank's SG.

Russ, the response today was "I have no idea." Her earlier email showed how far behind they were because of the unseasonal weather.

Update: It looks like we'll get the shipment Friday. I hope it comes soon, because I leave for Florida Monday morning for a week on business.

Here's the last email Key's Kritters sent last night:

"Dan, good evening.
It's not looking good on this end. These stinking snails do this every year, sometime between late August and the first cool spell, for a few days. Then they come right back.
I'm sending all our boats and crew out for nothing but snails on Thursday. They will not be in until the last minute on Thurs, and we will have just enough time to pack and make the run to Fedex.
My job will be to have everything else in your order ready when they get back. Depending on the time, I may not be able to pack the astrea for each member and might have just enough time to bulk pack them. I will do the best I can, depending on
the time, to divide them up into as many small bags as I can. If I don't have time to label them, FedEx waits on no one, I will let you know the quantities when I email you your tracking number.
I won't be able to get back in touch with you until after we make the run to Fedex, which will be about 7pmEDT. I will send you your tracking number and all the information I have then.
Thank you for putting up with us, the snails, and the weather.
Corrie"

Chris (reefkoi) needs someone to babysit his shipment until early next week. Does anyone have room in a sump or something for his 200 hermits?

Ok everybody. All indications are that the shipment will be here Friday. You should bring either a cooler for the bags to be carried in, or 1.025 water for rinsing and carrying.

Dan N will let me know when it arrives, and I'll head right over to check its condition and we'll PM everybody to tell them it's ready for pickup.

The address is 50 Easy Street, Colorado Springs, CO, 80911. You can Mapquest or Google Map it.

If you want to post or PM your phone numbers where you can be reached, we can call if you want.

Dan K.
