Group buy

Shouldn't be a problem.
The boxes arriving is really no big drama.
The plane's a 4 seater. If I can fit 4 humans in a plane, a few boxes shouldn't be too bad.
I'm just starting my tank, so I'd be happy to accept frags in return for the hitch. Y'all Central Illinois boys seem to keep your beautiful tanks a big hidden secret from all of us Western Burb Newbies :)

See what gobies he can get. As I stated in the other thread, if the price of shipping goes down for inverts, I'd buy 2 cleaners.

I'm not to sure what Gobies he can get, everything he can catch in Hawaii is on the list. He said there might be a few more things not listed that comes in the Aussie shipment that he can order. I'm not sure when he will find out what he can order.

I would like to buy some as well, I buy all my fish from Inland and I know how long they have been there and that they are eating. I don't quarantine them. These fish would definitatly need to be qt'd. Does anyone have extra quarantine space? I know it's a weird request but I'd pay or give frags for the service.

All fish should be QT, by the time inland gets there fish it has probably been through 3 different holding places and exposed to who knows what.

The + of getting fish from someone like Alex is that it's all pulled right out of the ocean and sent to you (expect the Aussie fish) so there is less of a chance that the fish will get sick.

About a year ago I bought a pacific blue and whatever it had wiped out all my fish. Since then what I buy at Inland has been there for 2-3 months, I consider them safe to add, just trying to be safe and join in. It makes sense direct shipped would be an improvement.

ick magnet. i honestly doubt it would have mattered if you QT'd that pacific blue. it would have got sick and died int he QT or it would have gotten better. then you would have added it to your display and it would have gotten sick again. some fish just get sick if you look at them wrong. pacific blues are one of them. i would never, ever consider adding one of those into a fully stocked display - QT'd or not.

and, in case ytou are curious... i refuse to QT fish and have no intentions on QTing these fish.

I was the same way until I lost $200 of fish, I boght a couple of Anthias from the LFS that had been there for three weeks and were eating. Within 2 weeks od adding them everything in the tank came down with ich.

I learned my lesson after having to remove every rock and coral from the tank to get the fish out.

40 bucks gets you everything you need to QT a fish properly. If I didn't QT all of my purchases, I would have had a horrid outbreak of ich in my display.

I have thousands invested in my tank. I don't think I could afford NOT to QT.

Ok, back on subject.

One more off subject post.

It is of utmost importance that the fish be properly and fully acclimated to your tank ph, temp, and salinity. I dont think HCS3 is risking too much as long as the fish pass a proper visual ispection. This is not to say that they dont have any internal parasites or something. Pacific blues, achilles and the like are notorious and should be fully QT'd. Most good retailers would make sure that they have QT'd the fish for you. In my opinion QT can sometimes do more harm than good, sometimes. You need to find the yin and yang for your particular species. Too long a QT for sensitve fish will be detremental to thier health. IT would be much better for them to be in a fully established tank once they are acclimated to that tanks conditions.

The X factor is the tank mates. The animal must be in good enough health to defend itself or run away if an aggressor pursues.

sorry, back on topic.
