Group buy

40 bucks gets you everything you need to QT a fish properly.

and that is why i do not agree with QT. hobbyists think $40 is just fine for a hospital tank, but will spend $1000's on the display. it should be pretty obvious which tank will have better water quality, more stable conditions, etc.

think of it another way... if you came down sick, would you choose the hospital that had all the monitors and technology available, or would you asked to be shipped down to mexico?

I think hardy fish such as triggers and clowns can be added to a display tank, as they are very hardy and disease resistant. Also another thing you have to think about is the other tank mates. If it's a timid fish like a Wrasse it might get picked on and stressed even more in the display than it would in QT.

This is my last post on this subject as I don't want to get this thread off topic.

Back on subject, the Socal group just got there order in and everything was alive.

Everything showed up alive for the CO group a few weeks back.

what snail is he refering to when he says "Cleaner snail"

and is there a limit to the number of those I can order? (say, 2 as opposed to 2 dozen?)

That Potters Angel is calling my name!

thanks!

I dont want to rain on everyones parade but you might want to check back with the diver...I heard there is problems getting fish shipped from SOME suppliers because of the whole liquid thing on the planes. Dont know how true it is but you might want to check before everyone gets too involved.

without researching any of this i'll take a stab in the dark...

you heard your rumor from john at sailfin. he used it as an excuse as why his store is low on inventory.

ok, enough guessing on my part. the liquid on planes is for carry-on baggage only and will not, AFAIK, affect any commerical entities unless they are shipping fish in carry-on luggage. with that said, i will e-mail and phone our diver for his take on this. however, as brad has already reported, other clubs are still recieving their orders which have been shipped after the most recent airline restrictions.

thats a pretty good guess...John wasnt using as an excuse but said in general convo he wasnt able to receive shipments from some of his suppliers. I always figured the low inventory in summer was due to lack of students & people doing summer things so he didnt order.

Like I said, dont know how true but didnt want things to fall apart for you guys.

yeah, i've been around for awhile. :D my john/sailfin BS o'meter went off when i read that ;)

and truthfully, since i now know the origin, i no longer have to research it. :p

I find this hard to believe as the socal group got a shipment in this Sunday after the airline issues.

I just found out for sure that the above claims of not being able to ship are BS. Although we already new that.

Also I spoke with the diver (Alex) and he said he's trying to run 3 Group Buys all at the same time for the same shipping date. He said he had ours ahead of the other two as we had contacted him first. In other words we get the fish that are available if more are requested from all groups than he has in stock.

Henry is HC3,

I'm not sure where the PBT come from but if it's not Hawaii or the land down under then I doubt he can get them.

Anyone interested please update the thread that is a sticky at the top of the CIMA forum before the end of the week or you will not be able to order anything.

well I am torn. I have ALWAYS wanted a Potters Angel, but I hear they can be hard to keep.

However, at these prices, its almost worth a shot! (that sounds really irresponsable doesn't it.)

Do we have a price on the helfrichi firefish? Can someone let me know please?

I would be interested in a pair if possible....

Do we have a price on the helfrichi firefish?

no. likely unavailable.

Actually the diver said he could get a Helfrichi fire fish but they are hard for him to get a hold of, and it would run around the same as the lineatus.
