just did waterchange and now everything is messed up as in now my moray wont eat and is faceing up if this is oxegen related will haveing surface water always moveing help any if not wat could be going on sg is 1.022-1.023 ph is 8.2 zero nitrites and ammonia and nitrate at 10 ppm anyone know wat could be going on?

Is it your moray or your grouper? The number one problem with moray's is that they can develop goiters in their throat. Their thyroid gland is located directly under their inner jaw. When this gland swells they are unable to eat. I would HIGHLY suggest testing your iodine levels. If they are too low I would add Vibrance made by Aquavitro, you only need to add 1 mL for ever 25 gallons.

What do you mean by water surface always moving? You need to have the water surface always moving to help with oxygen exchange.

both grouper and moray wont eat but moray ate last night he just isnt interested thanks about water movement i will buy another powerhead immediatly but i will also check to see if eels jaw is swollen and check iodine levels if eel has swollen jaw wat should i do?

How do you do a water change? Do you premix the water for a day or two or do you just mix it and dump it right in?

It is not his jaw that will swell. Right behind his gills is where the thyroid gland and his inner jaws are located. If the thyroid gland swells it will look like he has an adams apple. As long as you keep the iodine levels up you should be ok. You must TEST before adding any chemical particularly iodine. You only need a very small amount. Also, eels need a verity of foods in their diet. I would suggest alternating between uncooked frozen scallops and shrimps.

As for your grouper that is very odd considering groupers are garbage cans. What type of water did you use for your water change? how did you mix it?

If the grouper does not eat today try feeding him black moles or ghost shrimp. The only time I ever not seen a grouper eat was while he was under stress.

Don't worry about the bristle worms. They are a great clean up crew and will eat all the left over food in the tank. I doubt it is a parasite unless you added something new to the tank. Is this your first tank? Have you done water changes before?

for waterchanges i take water out with a no spill than i mix the water and qiuckly add it since that is the case my lfs sells premixed seawater by the gallon so ill try that for my next water change and this grouper in particular was always very shy and skittish at the lfs i finally got him to eat in front of me only weeks before this started happening i will also be adding another powerhead to one part of the tank were there is no watermovement so there is more oxegen inthe tank and today ill check iodine levels,

eel just ate a piece of silverside he must have also been tired of the big archer attacking it while it was on the stick and in front of him he has no adams apple and i am going to suck out all the mulm and organic waste and add another powerhead

Sounds like a good plan ^^ Keep us updates I hope it all goes well.

do you have a subtank? if so I would add some moss into your subtank to add more oxygen to the tank...also all plants remove nitrates from the water ^^
