Grouper's 225 build- the beginning

Laura, when it's done and all settled in, I would like to host a meeting someday.

Chris, most definitely. I would hate to build my stand for 95" and actually build the tank 95.5".

I always wonder how many pods actually make it to the display vs how many get churned up in the return pump.
There was a write up a couple years about that. Over 90% made it alive to the display.

Mike, if I'm understanding, your talking about drains going to each end of the sump with the return in the middle?
Yes.

I would think with the "impellers" on most of the larger pumps these days, there would be much less mulching. More pushing.

i have the return pump in the middle and think its the best way as well. you can easily regulate the flow going through your fuge and no worries about skimmer messing with the fuge goodies.

How about this for the sump? It is 18" front to back BTW.

that looks pretty sweet..........

I take it that the bulkhead is for the return?

Yep, 2" for a Dart pump.

So your return is pulling from the skimmer chamber? Won't microbubbles be an issue?

Lee

Not with my I-Tech. I have no baffles in my sump now and I have 0 microbubbles.

Progress....I got the acrylic and getting ready to glue. A friend who has knowledge of doing this is going to show me the ropes on doing the glueing part hopefully tomorrow. I couldn't wait to see how would look all together so I just taped it together today.
The table it is on is just for building the tank. It looks bigger than it did on paper. LOL
