Growing Chaeto

Finally set-up my fuge yesterday. I partitioned off a 6"w x 15"d x 14"t section in my sump. I am feeding with small pump with plumbing going to bottom of fuge area and then spilling over into return area of sump. The flow rate is currently adjusted to barely run over the partition. I have a Beamswork 36" light above the water level by approximately 18". Yesterday I added a handful of Chaeto from LFS and saw copepods moving around in the fuge. I also added the "pods in a bottle" (probably snake oil). Light is scheduled for 7 hr run time, midnight to 0700 on high setting. Since stand is not finished regular daylight, not direct sunlight, will also be providing light to the fuge during daylight hours. This morning I do not see copepods moving around, or dead for that matter. Not overly concerned as they could be hiding in Chaeto. Am I missing anything, any changes I should make to get the chaeto and copepods growing?

I run my sump lights 24/7 and have amazing growth with my Chaeto and other algae such as GHA and all happy and thriving. I also have a lot of encrusting sponge on a pile of LR I keep in there, as well as a few I've not taken the time to identify. I suggest running your lights no less than 12 hrs off and 12 hrs on opposite your DT lights, or you can try like I do with 24/7. I also don't have any algae in my DT and I think it's because I do this. I do harvest Chaeto once a month and the GHA every two weeks when I do a WC.
