Growing pods

Does anyone out there grow/culture their own pods? I would be interested to see how it's done and how difficult it is.

There are definitely articles in reek keeper. That's where I found some great info. Not that tough and I think helpful. If I find the link again I'll post it.

LOL I've done the phyto thing pretty easy! Thanks for trying, If you do happen to find it please let us know.

Thanks for trying! :)

I culture pods. It's pretty easy. Here's a guide:

Rather than start with tigger pods get a starter of a variety of the smaller pods (they're easier to grow). Be patient. It will take a week or so for the pod culture to take-off. Feeding live phyto is best but pods are particular about which phyto species they can/will eat. The more commonly cultured phyto (Nannochloropsis) is not digestable by pods. There are many dry feeds available.

I culture pods right now to feed my Mandarin goby. I use a 10 gallon tank with regular CF bulbs that run for 16 hours. I ordered my pod culture online and use concentrated phyto from brine shrimp direct to feed them. I harvest them once every 2 weeks when the population gets too big. Very simple and easy to do.

Where did you get your pod cultures? Would you mind being a little more specific as to what your system is?

Thanks!
