Growth or Death?

This trumpet coral has been in my tank for a good 8 months and didn't do any growing. The last 2 months it and all of my other corals have been growing like crazy. The 2 pics are 2 months apart, can anyone tell me if thats growth of if its dieing?

My po4 is .08 and my no3 is between 12 - 20. Not sure why nitrates, which have been stable for months, have started creeping up. Also crazy that the coral just started splitting and taking off in growth and just as quick began to die. At least its not one of my acros.
