im in the planning process of a 60 cube in which id like to have a pair of GSM clowns and a yashe hashe goby/shrimp combo these will be the only fish besides maybe some kind of small clown goby or something as a BTA will be the centerpiece. what im wodering is what are the odds i could pair these clowns in the area im in now i cant even find but 1 or 2 and from the articles ive read they seem to be a PITA to pair. Any advice or thoughts of whether or not this is a real possibility or should i just get some onyx percs?

i'm trying to pair my gsm in a 29 biocube......still a work in process after a week. i don't think it should be a problem; in the wild clowns rarely leave their anemone, which is relatively small.

IMO, I'de get a large female and slowly introduce a smaller male. I have a breeding pair but it wasn't easy getting to that point.

it can be a very horrific experience. i had no luck but started with maybe to small of female.if i was you i would get a large female 3+inches and a very small male maybe 1 inch.
good luck and keep us posted.

It's much easier to get two fish that have already paired up. Sustainable aquatics usually has pairs. They don't right now though. At least they don't have them listed on the site right now. Maybe you could contact them, and see if they can help you out.

how much more would it be to buy a pair and they have gold stripes or regulars? the only problem ordering things is my gf is scared to death of fish and wont touch them so theyd be sitting on my front porch till i get home from work. they do have a BIG female at an lfs here shes like 4,5-5 inches long but im not gonna be setting up the tank for 6-8 months as i said. Also how hardy are these clowns and how soon should i introduce them and their anemone after cycling?
