GSM pairing

Well, we decided to give it a shot a getting a couple GSM clowns to pair up.

i finally read the FAQ thread and downloaded the .pdf file for future reference. Nothing earth shattering, but there are some answers that differ from what people reply here.

we got the smaller fish at a new LFS in orlando, and the larger female at our LFS on coral trade in titusville.

I setup a 10g tank, with netted divider, and used a speciman cup to let them see each other.

the smaller one had run of the tank since tuesday. We added the female friday evening after dinner.

by the time we were ready for bed - this is what we found.

looks like she found a way around the netting to check him out! haven't seen any signs of fighting!

I guess i have to say beginners luck! and keep my fingers crossed.

over the past couple days, sometimes they are close and then farther apart. i removed the netting, but left the container in just incase. maybe having the flame hawk in there helped?

this is in their new home awaiting them. I will give them another week and then move them over!I picked it up tuesday night after getting the little clown. Actually while i was killing time at Aquarium Fanatics waiting for the guy to get home who was selling the anenome!

oh wow awsome stuff

ive seen that result before putting them in a neutral enviroment like QT is a good idea sometimes. it makes the females less aggressive.

they will love that anemone

Way to go!
I bet not having the nem for her to be all territorial over helped.
I'm sure you'll have a smooth transition.

well, we are getting more fish tomorrow, so we decided to go ahead and move the clowns into their tank last night.

I put the little guy in first and gave him a chance to look around - guess where he went!

then we put the female in and you will never guess where she ended up!

as of this morning, they are both very happy laying in their new home!

Nice job. I will have a go at it in early May.

I plan to pair together at the LFS. Put the male in a 2 liter bottle with holes drilled and have them acclimate for a few days. Hope I get the same result as you.

haha, yeah that happened when I paired my GSM's too. I made a divider and the female some how made her way over to the male and they were just fine. I guess it doesn't take as long to pair as some say, maybe depending on their sizes
