GSP CLOSED for the week?

I've had this colony of green star polyps for about 6 months, when I got them, the colony was about the size of a silver dollar, they are at least 5 times the size now (spreading out on the rock)

My problem is that all of a sudden they have closed up and don't come out, a few here and there come out but no where near the full colony.

All my tests show everything is within specs. I also blow my rocks off every week so there is not build of detrius on them. I can't figure out whats up with them.
Everything else in the tank is doing fine

Whats going on with theses guys?

I know some pple would call this a blessing, as they spread quickly, but I don't, I like my star polyps and would not want to lose them.

Bulbs are only 7months old
Alk 9
Mag1300
Cal 420
Amon 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5ppm
Temp 78-80F
Salinity. 1.026

all of my specs (tests) have been the same since I have started the tank, so there has been no big change in water parameters.

do you have a powerhead blowing directly on them? mine dont like that and will stay closed. ive got a huge colony and i have a 2x3 area that wont open. the whole colony is 12x6. changed flow and everything that area just stopped opening up.

No powerhead directly on them, I have changed the flow directed at them in the past, but have done nothing different in the last 3 months

the only time mine closed up for a week is when my alk was sky high, but they've come back since then, although they're a lot duller in color compared to the new colony growing in

Green Star polyps prefer moderate water motion.Although the coral does not have a stinging capability, it's encrusting growth pattern can lead to rapid encroachment on its neighbors.Green Star polyps are photosynthetic and require no feeding.

This happened to a small colony of mine too. They closed up for about 5 days. The problem was they did not have enough flow. Moved them closer to a powerhead and they popped right out and seem to be growing.

I have a colony that closed up for 4-5 days for no reason at all, no change in lights, movement, water quality.....
Now they are back as good as new....
Almost like they just took a break....
