Mine is now day 18 and all is well, except the hair algae is starting to take hold. I really need my clean up crew ASAP, LOL!

Now running the lights 10 hrs. per day, here's my water specs:

PH-----------8.2

Alk.----------11.0

SG-----------1.0255

Temp--------75.5 - 76.5

Free ammonia-----0 PPM

Nitrite--------0 - .1 PPM

Nitrate-------5 PPM

Mine is doing pretty well. Every time I turn around I find something new living in there. I'm pretty sure I've found a couple of Aptasia, peppermint shrimp should take care of that once he arrives, and I found a Aeolid Nudibranch last night that I quickly removed. Saw a whelk in there the other day but couldn't grab him and saw a baby whelk on the glass last night. The corals I have look amazing and it seems they come out farther every day. I've got more cup corals than I can count on 2 hands as well. Lots of new green growth as well, not enough to tell what it is yet though.

I do have a bit of rust colored algae growth but I'm not sure if I should be concerned about that just yet or not since there is no clean up crew in the tank just yet.

Since I did have that Ammonia spike last week I'm holding off on getting the second half of the package for this week but my Ammonia is staying at or below .25ppm now so it won't be long before I get the second half. Otherwise my test results are pretty much the same as yours.

I'm on my 10th day now and had the ammonia only up to 1 and nitrate at 40 on the 6-7th day but on the 8th day ammonia dropped down to .25.

This morning the parameters are:
SG 1.022
PH 8.1
Ammonia 0
Nitrite .25
Nitrate .15
Temperature 77

For some reason I can't get the PH above 8.1 and it's been floating bet 8.0 & 8.1 and I've been adding Seachem 8.3 buffer.
One tiny crap was dying this morning and sponges too along the past week. Getting green algae on rocks since I put up the 175w MH on this past sunday and only on for 5 hrs each day. Probaly will get the 2nd pkg middle of next week.

I just got my 2nd half, done two water changes and ammonia is now down to .25. Here are sme pics.

I will show more pics when it gets done.

tspfish,

What date did you get your 2nd half that you already need to peform 2 water changes? I just got my 2nd half yesterday.

I got my second half on Sunday had a little sponge die off on one of the rocks and I don't know if the plants that came on the rock and doing that good. I was thinking about taking the plants off and doing away with them. They don' seem to go with the sceme of what I am looking for. I will post more pics later everything looks awesome though.

The white sponge does not do well in my tank and I just take them out on the 2nd half. The brown plants looks dull and I can't really tell if it's alive or not but after 10 days from the 1st half I do see some white tiny thing on the tip of each plant and looks alive but its so tiny. Almost every rock from the 2nd half came with cup corals.

Looks like your cycle will complete soon and be able to add fish. I probably wouldn't have checked my water parameters if I didn't see you mentioned of 2 water changes. My Ammonia and Nitrite went up to .25 from 0 and nitrate up to 30 from 20 but PH went down to 8.0 from 8.2.

I hope to be able to add fish and some coral and mushrm in toward end of next week.

I still don't have my rock ( see my last post under "Cycling question). My sand and rescued hitchhikers in the 55 are doing fine my water is
Ammonia is between 0.25ppm -0.50ppm
nitrate 10ppm
nitrite 0.5ppm
ph 8.1

I hope all levels out soon... My tank looks soooooo empty. I can't wait to get my base rock again.

My establish 55 FOWLR is doing great and I just added a new fish a male lyretail anthias he's 3 inches long and co habitating w/ the other fish fine. All of those fish are going to go in the TBS reef tank when fully cycled ( maybe 2 fish at a time till all are in ).
yellow tang
lawnmower bleny
orchid pseudochromis
firefish ( dart fish)
anthias
I want to add a clownfish ( black percula) later down the road.

I;m glad all of your tanks are doing so well. I can't wait to get mine up and going!!!

I forgot to say why I'm moving all my fish from the FOWLR tank. My husband has always wanted lionfish so we are going to have a dwarf red lion and a foxface in that tank when the reef is 100% up and goping fully cycled and stocked!!

I guess I will have to start a nano for the domino damsel I have always wanted. Yep Saltwater is addictive.

Here is another update on how my tank is doing. All perameters are finally acceptable. I had quite a time with ammonia levels there for a while but all is good now.

Can anyone see the fuzzy plant in this picture, what is it? It is pink and really fuzzy, I don,t think there polyps but it is quite small.

Here is a great view of the prize of the package, it is quite a site when the lights are on. This is a side tank shot, you can see it from the front in other photos.
