Guys, I need some Help with a Powder Brown Tang

Keep in mind that black ich is a completely different organism - paravortex worms, as opposed to cryptocarion irritans. The term "black ich" is just a colloquialism because of it also has the appearance of spots.

I think the black ick is back. Seeing some scratching, and maybe a couple of more dots. The tang's color is not as strong as yesterday. (Looking a bit pale.)

Also, seeing a bit of damage on the tang's back fin. I believe this may have been caused by the carbon I'm running (half a cup in a phosban reactor filled with sponge pieces). The carbon was put a couple of days ago; Should I remove the carbon or leave it?

I'll watch carefully, and probably give the Tang a 2nd FW dip. If I do a second treatment, the Dottyback is getting a bath as well.

Lol. RoggerRecipe to the rescue! I've been using Joe's (NYVP) food mixture for a few months now (since the frag swap) as well as some pellet and nori, and fortunately my ich infested tank hasn't had a single white spot on any fish :) I also have a cleaner shrimp who actively cleans all my fish as well, so I'm sure that doesn't hurt.

I agree with Manny (Gasman) when he says that in **most** SW tanks, there is just going to be ich there, whether from a hitchhiker on some coral or LR, or from a fish that wasn't quarantined properly, or some other source. Who knows. I say most tanks, because I've heard the trial and tribulations of JeffBrig's tank :p His efforts are to be applauded.

Actually this food I am offering is totally different than the one you guys are use to, I have been testing for over 2 months with new innovative ingredients and I am very satisfy with the results in my fish but my fish have no ich so I would like to test on some sick fish.
I am very confident that this new combination will boost the fish immunity, deliver the correct aminoacids and collagen producer chemicals improving natural slime and scales strength that will help with the fishes natural resources avoid skin decease like ich.

Sounds awesome Rogger. If I had a sick fish, I would totally offer it up for testing. If you ever make a superfood batch again, lemme know and I'd be happy to throw in for some (as would everyone else in the club, no doubt). Or if you ever make coral food (blucoral, etc) lemme kno.

Anyway, keep us informed on how it works out...

After 14 days of Hyposalinity, I saw white ick on the tang last night. Is this normal?

My Refractometer was calibrated to 35ppm from day one with a Salifert solution that I purchased in Reef Life. What could I be doing wrong?

In addition, the Tang has a bacterial infection inside the mouth. I'm on day 3 of a Erythromycin antibiotic treatment. This bacterial infection I think was a result of netting the fish for the fresh water dip

I am a big non fanatic of Hypo, specially if you are trying Cooper or Anti-biotic treatments on top of it.
Try bringing the salinity slowly back up to normal, cover the tank all around with a towel or any cloth material, place a piece of pvc in the tank were the fish can hide, feed 3 to 4 time a day small portions and give the fish time to recup by himself, do daily partial water changes to ensure water quality.
