Gyre 150 WoW!

I have the Jebao CP40, and its the only thing in my 6ft 120. I love it. I want to grab another, don't need it but just want to see what fun I can have with it.

i did notice that sis on the side of the gyre didn't fare as well as those in the middle and far side. I never ran mine in reverse, but i would think on bigger tanks you might want to consider another flow method in addition to the gyre.

What Gyre would you guys recommend for a tank thats 60 length 24 width and 20 height?

Right now i have 2 RW15 and have dead spots on the bottom.

No doubt the 150. I had a 130 running at 100% in a 3 ft frag tank. It wasn't overpowering.

You can run it a bit less than you would think. I ran mine 40-50% and it actually moved the substrate on the return flow.

Thank you

Now i just need a good sale to justify the purchase to the wife lol

Memorial day sales are roughly 10% right? Think i might hold out until then.

Are you guys still liking your Gyres? How is the noise and the cleaning?

Thinking to replace 2 RW-15 with the Gyres. Not sure yet if go JEBAO to try or go with the Maxspect.

Thanks in advance...

I think Gyres are 100% better choice than Jebao from my experience. I have used them both. My Gyre 150 motor died after about 2 years, I was able to get a new replacement for $60. It runs like a champ.

Jebao, when dead you pretty much throw them away. And they will die within 1 year.

i upgraded by adding a second gyre 250 and now run a custom program with the new controller. i guess you could say i'm even more pleased with my pump than i was before.

yeah, I bought a pair of xf130s as soon as they came out, 1 on a 3' tank, 1 on a 4' tank. Both worked well. I took down the 4' tank about 6 months ago (prepping for my 300 gallon) and just have both on my 3' tank set very low.

so in that setting it is super quiet, (I'm a light sleeper and this tank sits next to my head).. and flow is still great. The only things i've damaged were the rubber bits from disassembling. my tip - don't take apart the gyre, do external cleaning only, run through warm water.

So.. Obviously i bought 2x xf250s for my new 300 gallon tank :)

Is two Gryre 150's too much for a 40 breeder?
Yes. I have one 130 for a 525xl on pulse mode and it is fine. I've got a 250 in a box which I had running at the other end for a while but it was too much. Lps corals at the moment but sps to come over next few months funds permitting [emoji23]
