Had this guy for a few days and he just won't attach. I've tried placing him between sand and live rock and nothing.. up against the glass and sand and nothing.

I can't find any info hardly for an aurora and it's starting to worry me he won't attach? Is this normal for this type?

Had him a few days was a surprise from my girlfriend...drip acclimated and he just tumbles around and hasn't found a way to attach himself

Take a picture of its pedal disk (its base).
And please change the resolution to at the most HD - in the camera settings or edit it afterwards.

Looks similar to my h malu, it took my malu almost 2 weeks before it attached , is the foot damaged ? Does it give off anything

It doesn't look too bad. If it comes loose again I would place a small rock underneath the foot. While these anemones like to sit on sand they still like to attach their foot to some solid surface.

BTW. this is how an injured pedal disk looks like:

ahh yes it definitely does not look like that.
the bottom of the foot is nice and intact.. that is a good idea to place rocks underneath it just incase. I had not thought of that one!

At some point will the tentacles elongate or do aurora stay short and stubby?

Woke up this morning to find the aurora all closed in itself...turned on the lights and he opened right up. I stuck a sheet of liverock under him and I can't tell if he latched on or not but he hasn't moved. Tried feeding him a small piece of krill but it didn't seem to stick.

In other news, we bought a rock with a bunch of pompom xenias on it and my girlfriend loves it. She actually picked out the rock...I even found underneath them some REALLY bright green zoaNthids...I'm convinced that I have something killing my zoas because I can't keep them at all. We'll see how these go because I love the color of them.

I believe your anemone is H. malu and not H. aurora. Both can have ringlets but H. auroras are generally much more pronounced.

Have another, closer look at the tentacles, they are slightly flattened, have a straight line lengthwise and bumps on the sides.
I'm pretty sure it's an unhappy aurora that hasn't expanded the side branches of its tentacles yet.

Please note ringlets on this LA H. malu. They are very similar to the anemone above. I don't believe either anemone will develope the pronounced beadlets commonly associated with H. aurora.
