H. guttulatus

Picked up what appears to be an H. guttulatus from the LFS and I am having trouble finding care info on this species. Can anyone point me in the right direction or share their own experience with this species? Thanks!

I wasn't aware of any in North America.
Their natural habitat areas are Croatia; Cyprus; France; Greece; Italy; Malta;
Morocco; Netherlands; Portugal; Spain; Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Suspected distribution Albania; Algeria; Belgium; Bosnia and Herzegovina; Egypt; Israel; Lebanon; Libya; Monaco; Serbia and Montenegro; Senegal; Slovenia; Syria; Tunisia; Turkey
What did you use for identification purposes?
Google the Seahorse ID Guide 2004 PDF and see how it compares there.

Thank you for the awesome resource! I took a look at it and it looks just like the guttulatus. Mine has the filaments and the long snout. Here's a pic, please tell me what you think... uploadfromtaptalk1402967899790.jpg

Any species can have the cirri that you call filaments.
You can't id just from LOOKING at the pics, you have to go through the points of description.
It's hard to tell from the pics but the coronet doesn't really look like guttalatus to me. Also, the markings I see are more commonly seen on H. erectus which is the most common available in the US.
In addition to coronet description you have to count the dorsal fin rays and pectoral fin rays for more positive ID. Also consider snout length, colour patterns and natural distribution areas.
That coupled with the fact I don't remember seeing any guttalatus in North America in my eleven years of keeping would have me say that they are not guttalatus.
Sooner or later there will be other experienced keepers who may have heard of them in NA but the odds are not great.
